I'm bored and sick of looking at these stupid excel spreadsheets so let's do a poll!
We splurged on towels of all the stupid things lol. We registered for these amazingly wonderful lacoste towels that I'm really hoping we get. Also, a Dyson but we only registered for it so we get the discount after the wedding lol
Re: Poll: What did you splurge for on your registry?
We got our pots and pans already
I kinda wanted to register for the Kitchenaid mixer, since most people do - but Ben talked me out of it. I seriously would NEVER use it. We registered for a hand held one instead.

Dude, register for the one that is BOTH! The mixer part come off so it's a hand held and a stand mixer. I'm an enabler. ha ha ha
So, it's the Apilco porcelain line from Williams-Sonoma. Ahhh...can't wait.
FI and I are weird. We're old enough to have nice pots/pans, dishes, etc and we've lived together for 2 years, but we really do need all of that stuff. All of our plates are from the dollar store (FI bought a lot of them for me when I had a dinner party when we first started dating and I had like 4 plates) and none of our flatwear or glasswear matches. Our pots and pans are from Target or IKEA and are totally falling apart. I always fantasize about getting new stuff, but I'd rather spend money on other things. So we'll probably keep everything off of our registry.
ETA: One of my friends got the Margaritaville frozen drink maker. I soooo want one of those!
Everything else was pretty reasonable stuff that we wanted. My favorite items are kind of silly: stainless steel kitchen trashcan (so much nicer looking than our old plastic one!), electric tea kettle (use this every day), some new water glasses (only $4 each at C&B). Not that expensive, but really nice upgrades.
I kind of want a kitchen aid mixer, but it was too expensive, I knew no one would buy it. And I'm just not sure I'd use it enough to justify it. I did get an $80 food processor though!

[QUOTE]Pots and pans. Knives. Bedding/pillows. A NICE vacuum (although I didn't splurge that much... ideally, I'd like a Dyson). China. Dishes. We got our pots and pans already :) I can't wait to start using them. I bought a Kenmore set when I moved into my own apartment three years ago - they are nice, but they are all non-stick. Which is fine - but not all the time. I'll probably box them up and leave them at my parent's place for one of my sisters to use in college.

Yup, that stuff. And whatever we didn't get, we plan on buying ourselves with the completion discount.
Though as an aside, we DID get a refurbished Dyson from woot.com yesterday for $279 - score!!
And I want to add a roomba. We seriously need one with three cats and white carpet.
We didn't get anything off the registry, but that's cause I didn't tell anyone about them really. A few people asked, but we got cash by far as the most common gift. I registered for my discount later, I'll buy everything myself.

And for those of you considering a Kitchenaid stand mixer, REGISTER FOR IT! I have one and LOOOOVE it. It makes so many different things! The attachments are awesome (registered for a couple of those). My FI gave it to me for Valentine's Day!
Thankfully my mother is giving me her China and my Grandmothers China so I don't have to register for that. They are not the patterns I would pick but I don't have to ask for a sugar bowl that is over $100.00 and risk not getting something else I would want more.
Our families are not super rich and my FI's sister got married last year and asked for a ton of really expensive items and the whole family was dissappointed. I am not the kind of person to ask for really expensive items that I might never use.
The Keurig platinum brewer(which my mom already bought for my shower....soo excited!) and the Calphalon contemporary knife set are the biggest splurges. By the way, what is this about knives being a bad omen? Does it have something to do with one spouse murdering the other with the knives? Because that's just absurd and creepy...
Can you register for a puppy? I really want one of those.
