My FI and I are planning our wedding for July 2014. I am a school teacher and it is very important for me to have my wedding during my July-August summer vacation. One of my bridesmaids is going to Europe for a few weeks for a family wedding in August, so we decided on July. We do not want July 5th because we know a lot of people have 4th of July plans and did not want everyone hung over or away on vacation for our wedding, and I didn't like July 26th either because that is the anniversary of my grandmother's passing. July 12th is our preferred date and July 19th is fine too.
Today, we found the venue of our dreams! We visited five venues total so far, and when we toured this one today, we knew our search was over! We wanted to pencil in a date. The lady told us that both July 12th and July 19th were already booked for 2014!!!!! A year and a half away!! I am so devastated!!!!
I was considered doing the 26th, even though it is the anniversary of my grandmother's passing, but I'm unsure of what sort of mood this will put on the wedding. Quite a few of the wedding guests will already have this in mind the day of the wedding, since her husband, sister, niece, eight children/children-in-laws, and 12 grandchildren will all be at the wedding, and we typically have a brunch in her honor that weekend every summer. I would probably find some way to acknowledge/honor this.
Basically, I'm just seeking some opinions... do you all think that is a bad idea or do you think it is fine?
