Help Me Avoid Schoolwork :)

Re: Help Me Avoid Schoolwork :)

  • I think that I need a make up lesson or a make over or something. I feel like I look terrible and that my make up no longer suits me.

Does anyone have any recommendations regarding make up lines?
  • Musu - let me talk to John and see if we would consider these before I ask a ton of questions. I love them, though. He's more traditional.

  • Ok glad I got validation. ;)

Wish I could help, Lizzie, but I wear makeup about 4 times a year and I'm pretty sure every single piece of makeup I own is at least 5 years old. And that is really not at all an exaggeration.

Lizzie, what makeup do you use currently?

I really love Bobbi Brown for eyeshadows and liners. Their gel liner is amazing. Lancome mascara is awesome. Nars makes really good lip colors and blushes. Smashbox has the best primer I've ever used. And I really like Benefit for concealer/cover up and blush or bronzer.

ETA: Lancome liquid foundation has always been my favorite.

</div><div>For sure, any time! I loved it because now it serves as a memory piece that I have on a shelf in our house. It is both decoration and sentimental. I love that i can have my bouquet forever. </div>

  • Lizzie, for eyes I am nuts about Lorac.  I've recently switched to Lancome foundation and I like it more than most.
    image
  • I'm not a big make up person. I wear it occasionally but it's always extremely simple.
  • Lol at your sig, Girlie. I used to work every year at the fairgrounds at a juice/smoothie stand. We also had fresh lemonade. I can't even tell you the amount of times someone would say "Got any liquor for that?" as if it was the first time we could have POSSIBLY ever heard that joke. haha.
    image
  • The only time I work makeup this year, if I am remembering correctly, was my wedding, on January 6. And by makeup I am including even concealer and lipgloss.

  • Lizzie -

I like MAC eye shadow, some mineral foundation, Dior or Estee Lauder mascara, Estee Lauder lipstick or MAC lipstick.

I've also heard good things about Sephora and Smashbox, but I haven't invested in any yet. I don't wear much makeup.
    image
  • It made me laugh Musu.  And it also makes me want to try vodka and lemonade.   :)

I'm a makeup & product hoar.  I've tried most brands and am loyal to very few.

</div><div>I use a mix as well. Perscriptives base (I have the custom blended stuff and I like that) Loreal for the eyes, usually, I suck with liner...I usually end up looking like a racoon, but I really love the look of lined eyes. Lips, meh, I just pick up colors that I like. </div><div>
</div><div>This used to not be a problem but now I feel like everything just sinks into my skin and doesn't hold up.</div><div>
</div><div>My skin is changing, thanks to my hitting my mid 40's and I'm even getting blemishes, when I've never had a problem with them before. Just in the T zone...the rest of my face is dry.</div>

<div>My signature cocktail for the wedding was Cherry Vodka and Lemonade. YUM!</div>
  • I've heard that a lot of women start getting acne/blemishes later in their life if they don't get them at all in teens/early 20s. My mom NEVER had a pimple in high school, like at all, then once she was about 35 she started getting them occasionally. I had terrible acne and its slowly gotten better. So I'm hopeful that it will slowly fade like my dad's did.

  • Lizzie, my favorite trick for eyes is using a dark eye shadow for your liner.  I use a small angled brush, wet it then "dip" it in a dry shadow.  It's easier for me to line than with a pencil and it doesn't smudge as much either.
    image
  • Girlie - I do the same thing. I have liner, but it doesn't work out too well for me.

And, I look like Casper the Friendly Ghost's little sister, most liner is just too dark for my skin.
    image
  • Girlie, I do that same thing, especially if I want to experiment with a colored liner. Dark purples and dark blue turn out really well using a powder as liner.

I love makeup. I have a giant trunk full of makeup. I'm a little bit of a snob when it comes to makeup, though.

  • I have a strong desire to get drunk tonight. However, I have no one to drink with. Drinking alone holds no appeal. I couldn't even find one of the usual girls from work to go grab a drink.

Friday night I intend to drink. Great plans and all that.

  • Poke, our signature cocktail was vodka, lemonade and muddled strawberries! I adored it, but most people just called their drinks so I think only 30 or so of the signature drinks were served.
  • I think makeup looks like a lot of fun. I'm just lazy as all get out. And I'm so used to me looking like "me" without makeup. It would be weird to switch.
    image
  • I'm drinking alone. I'm drinking wine on my porch though so it feels classier to me.

</div><div>I'm on the porch, too. It's been rainy all day so the temperature is actually pleasant. I may actually have a cigar later.</div>
  • I wish I was drinking on my porch.
  • Oh I look awful without makeup. My eyes are so squinty, I need some very strategically placed eyeliner and three coats of mascara to look human. Plus, I enjoy doing my makeup.
