Getting in Shape

body media fit band

I just bought one and have been wearing it for 3 days now.

just wondering if anyone else has used them ( or body buggs) and what your success has been. ( or lack there of!)

Re: body media fit band

  • I was interested in the fit band! What do you think of it? Do you have to wear it 24/7? Does it give you info everyday on your computer?
  • I love mine! I generally burn between 1800 - 2000 a day. How about you?

  • So far I like it. You should wear it as often as you can to get the best and most accurate results. I did a ton of reasearch before I bought it and found people prefer body fit over body bugg.

Ive had it 3 days so I can't really review the progress just yet.  A lot of reviews say it takes 3 days or so before it is completely intuned to your body.

tomorrow I start back to the gym, so i'll be curious to see how many calories it says I burn. so far i've been eating no more then 1500 calories and buring 1600, which isn't enough to loose weight.

it's generally a 1000 calorie deficiency you need to loose weight.

  • Do you have to track the calories you eat or does it know?
  • you have to track. On the site.

this just measures your physical pattern, and your sleeping pattern. it tells you what your using.

it's all a numbers game. if you eat 2000 calories, you have to burn 3000 calories. or you can adjust it according to whats realistic to your life style.

what I like about it: it keeps you on track. numbers can't be fooled. they wont lie to you. if at 3:30 in the afternoon you still have 800 calories to burn, chances are youre not gonna do it sitting on the couch watching tv. so it tells you. Get up! move, burn X amount of calories!

I call it my 24 hour personal trainer.

  • I think this is something I want to invest in. It sounds like it would be a wonderful motivator.
  • sorry to ask so many questions, but do you need to get the subscription? Or can you just use it without it?
  • you do have to pay a monthly subscription, ($9) but most come with 3 months free. I ordered my band from costco and it gave me 12 months free. I then ordered my digital display from target and it hasn't arrived yet but no biggie.

    since i'm sure most will want to know;

you dont have to buy the display, but if you dont have access to your computer every few hours, or you want to know exactly where you are in terms of calorie burning throughout the day i'd say invest the extra $80 bucks into it.
I also have an iphone so I log every single meal into my notes so I wont forget. def have something handy in your purse to do this.

I hated logging meals when using weight watchers online, but honestly. it really makes you put back bad things once your read the nurtition facts. It also helps you keep your portion control down.

  • It's very interesting. I thought I burned more. I'm 5'3 31 and on my feet almost all day. How about you?
  • it took me a year to buy it. I was originally going to buy body bugg that biggest loser and 24 hour fitness hype up so much but I decided to wait it out and do my research.

in the end i'm really excited about this.

I was pretty small ( had to work VERY hard to stay small) in my high school days and as soon as I stopped all my sports I gained 50lb.

I've been struggling with it the last 8 years. I've lost it all at one point only to gain it all back the following year. so i'm really looking for a life style change, not just a quick fix.

i'm 26 and up and down all day. i'm self employed, but own a business that requires lots of lifting, running up and down stairs and sitting in the car or on my computer. So it's really 50/50 for me.

i've never been much of a junk eater and never could understand why I had so many weight fluctations. After looking at portions and eating non consistently
( only 1 or 2 meals a day) I realized what I was doing wrong.

So here's my plan and i'd love for any of you girls to join!

    EAT/WORK OUT PLAN

Ive read 5 factor diet which I take with a BIG grain of salt. If you haven't read the book, I urge you to do so.

I'm going to eat 5 small meals a day. Each meal will contain the following:

    1. Low-fat, quality protein
    2. Low-GI carbohydrate
    3. Fiber
    4. Healthy fat
    5. Sugar-free beverage
i'm going to go to the gym 3 times a week. Tuesday, Thurs and Sat. And then do p90X at home 3 days a week Monday, Wed, Friday. I also take my dog on 2 walks a day 1/2 mile.
Sunday will be a day of rest, with one cheat meal ( dinner).

My goal is 2lbs a week, which should get me to my first goal by Feb.

I will wear my body fit every single day from time of wake up to time of sleep. I'll wear it to bed every other day to track sleeping pattern.

    Sorry so long!

    who's gonna jump in? :)

  • I have a body bug (got it through a program at my gym, so I didn't have a choice about which device to get). I love it!

If I set it for a 500 calorie deficit, I consistently lose 1 pound per week when I make my calorie burn and eating goals. So it totally works. The only way I don't lose, is when I eat more than I burn (obviously).

Mine is set for me to burn 2450 calories a day as my goal- and then eating 1950 a day. I love this, because you don't have to eat "diet" food for 1950 calories- that's just normal eating! But then, I don't always burn 2450, and so I must eat less.

I can make the 2450 calories/day if I have one hour of working out that involves at least some cardio. A circuit class that is half cardio/half weights still lets me make it. The only days I don't make that burn is when I either don't work out at all, or do something very low key like pilates. This is a huge incentive to go to the gym 6 days a week- because I love to eat!
  • I love my gowearfit. I recently restarted my subscription. I find that it does seem to overestimate my calories. It says I burn between 2800-3100 calories, and working with my nutritionist, I lose best at around 1600 calories. But even so, the daily tracking is super awesome/important for me.
