CAB-help a girl out here

So, I have crazily oily hair no matter what I do. It's quite annoying. I can't go more than a day without having to wash it. I know dry shampoo is recommended, but I'm scared to use it on the regular. I usually only use the one I have when I plan to wash my hair later that day and have errands to run before. I currently have been using Big Sexy Hair dry shampoo, but do you have other recommendations for me? I am at a loss. Thanks darlin!

Re: CAB-help a girl out here

  • Well, I would start by recommending you switch to a sulfate free shampoo, something that has tea tree in it is a plus, because that should help control the oils. There's this one that I have my H use cause he has an oily scalp: http://www.organixhair.com/category-title/343
he likes it, and I have noticed a difference. You should be able to find it in any drug store, and it runs about $6.99.

This will NOT foam up like normal shampoo does until your scalp is completely clean, so be aware of that. Also, you want to make sure you are focusing on your scalp rather than your hair, to make sure you get all of the excess bad oils out. Yes, the bottle says moisturizing, but that's because you don't want to over dry out your scalp, this will cause a oil overload. When you use conditioner, make sure not to use it on your scalp at all, just the ends of your hair. A lot of people think it's ok to go without conditioner, but I think that would cause an over drying of hair.

Lastly, as far as big sexy dry shampoo, that should be fine, but I would say that you should only use it once before a washing. If you try to use it more than that, the dry shampoo powder won't completely absorb into your hair, leaving it white. I use a dry shampoo regularly, since I don't wash my hair everyday. My hair gets oily after day 3 (I know, I'm gross) then I use dry shampoo for day 4, THEN I wash my hair. I like this one: http://www.batistehair.com/ in Blush, because it seems to work into the hair easier, and it smells good. I think it's cheaper than Big Sexy, too.

HTH!!! Let me know if you have any questions. I feel like I went on a rampage with this lol!

  • Ah! I love you! I will look for the shampoo today and order the dry shampoo.

I also usually only put conditioner on the ends anyway, thats what I was taught a long time ago so I have always been good about that. At least that's one thing I'm doing right. Yay!

    Thanks so much!

  • Okay, ma'am, any suggestions on skin problems?  I had amazing skin until I turned 18 and went on birth control - not sure which of those things changed it, but I now get cystic acne occasionally on my chin (like it WON'T come to the surface, and takes weeks to heal, and there's no real solution except to wait).  And I get pimples on my forehead, blackheads on my chin and nose, and some normal zits on my forehead.  I either dry it out too much, and haven't found a moisturizer that can keep a nice balance.  Suggestions!

  • Hmmm, I could recommend you try the OCM (Oil Cleanse method), but I have to warn you, your skin will probably purge. Ultimately, that is what you want it to do. Here's what it is.

Get some jojoba oil, castor oil, and tea tree oil. The combinations are kind of tricky, because it's kind of trial and error. I wrote about the combos on Oct. 3rd of my blog, so reference that if you're gonna try this. If not, simply get some tea tree oil, and use it as a toner. Make sure to dilute it with water, start with 1 part tea tree to 10 parts water in a little dish, and drench a cotton swab with the mixture. Rub it on and leave it on.

Something else that I have just discovered specifically cystic acne is that taking B5 supplements helps this, and fast! It reduces the excessive oil build up, and gets rid of the acne. You'd need to take about 5 gr of it.
  • What should I use for dry skin on my legs. They itch all the time.

    Oh wow that's interesting
  • Yeah, it happens when you get a facial for the first time, too. Also, anytime you use a new acne regimen. It's pushing out all the gunk that has been stuck in the skin and only slowly coming out. It's no fun. It's literally your skin throwing up lol

  • Should I use the OCM if I just have blackheads? Or something gentler? They never turn into pimples, and you really can only see them if you're up close. But they're still gross. I wash my face with my Mary Kay facial cleanser, and I've used those sticky strips that are supposed to pull them out, but it doesn't work.

If I remember right you shouldn't try anything new as far as skin care within like a month of the wedding if you aren't sure how your skin will react to it

I started doing it because of my blackheads, so yes! It shrinks those puppies within the first week! But like I said about purging, I did get pimples. The interesting thing about the pimples I got the first few weeks (TMI WARNING) is that they popped instantly, and also healed really fast. This was JUST MY EXPERIENCE though. NO one should ever do anything new to your face super close to the wedding date! So try it all now ladies! ;) I had a really really good experience with this, and so has J&K, who is usually on SB and E, she's the one that introduced this to me and she's been doing it for a very very long time with no issues.

Hmmm...I don't really want to get pimples haha! I seriously never get pimples. If I do, it's just one, while I'm PMSing, which is only every three months!

Those didn't work for me either! Like they'd get a few but not all then my nose would be SUPER itchy! I've gotten better with my skincare so I think they're better. Like I would go to bed with makeup still on :/

Guilty. I only wash my face in the morning in the shower. I never think to at night.

  • I've gotten better because I wear liquid foundation now and I feel like it'd do more to my skin than the powder I used to wear lol. I'm not sure if I'm right but it gets me to wash my face haha
  • Ohhhh another question. I have under eye circles thanks to my allergies. What's best to help minimize them??

Ok hun, when I was pregnant I used the Burt's Bees Mama Bee brand oil. Before I even moved the shower curtain aside to crab my towel, I rubbed it all all over. Not only was my skin super hydrated, I didn't get even one stretch mark. Also, drink water! It's really great for your body.

Ok, I will try bright eyed, but man, even make up doesn't do it good for me, but I also suck at doing make up, so there is that. Or maybe I have the wrong kind, who knows.
