Outdoor April wedding

Me and my fiance' are looking at getting married on April 27th 2013 in Greensboro NC. I am worried it may be too cold. Has anyone been to or had a wedding around here that time of year?

Re: Outdoor April wedding

  • Honestly, in NC. . it's hard to tell. You could always look in the farmers almanac (I think that's where it's located) for past years temperatures and base it off of there.

I personally love April and even this year it was more warm in April than it was cold (except at night).

We got married in Feb 2010 and our wedding day was 70 degrees (granted every other weekend had snow). It's just hard to tell sometimes. If you really want an outdoor wedding, go for it, but always have a plan B, just in case :)

  • DH and I were married at the end of March near Charlotte this year... it was low 70s and sunny for most of the day.  We actually had a very summer like storm blow through about an hour and half before our ceremony.  Definitely not too cold to be outside!

You can go to weather.com and put in the city to get the average highs and lows.
  • I got married April 28th this year, and I have to say the weather was perfect.  Sunny and 80 before the wedding and then a bit overcast, so all the pictures turned out awesome, because nobody was squinting.

  • Thanks guys! This makes me a little less nervous.
  • I'm glad you said something -- my fiance and I are planning on doing an outdoor wedding next April, too, and I've also been nervously considering North Carolina's tempermental weather. I like the idea of consulting the farmer's almanac. Also, I'm not superstitious or anything, but I recently read about a pretty cool southern tradition called "Burying the Bourbon" -- have you heard of it? It's kind of silly, but it's supposed to ensure good weather on your wedding day. I think we're going to do it for fun just because it sounds like a cool thing to do. Plus who knows, maybe it'll actually work!
