I even went over there to check it out and I still don't get it. Its like "military bride" is code for - I do whatever I want. I know lots of people in the military who are normal and/or didn't have fake weddings after the JOP.

My mom was a military bride and she's seems to be pretty normal. They got married in someone's backyard AFTER my dad came back from overseas. It must be connected to the self-entitled generation like that kid who turned down a $40,000/yr because it wasn't good enough.

I have a number of cousins who married military guys and none of them pulled the pretty princess day stuff afterward. Some had a quick wedding before deployment and called it a day and some waited until their SOs returned. *ETA* The ones who waited for their SOs did have bigger weddings, just to clarify. I feel like I made it sound like military brides can't have weddings.

Either way, I was always the hottest (and often only) girl at the Friday Night Magic tournaments so, in your face!
I'm paying out the butt for Cobra because I started my new job before FH and I got married. Having our wedding in two weeks be fake would have saved me a lot but I didn't even think about it for a second.
I'm not sure why this bothers me so much.

Our backup plan was to postpone the wedding if he got deployed or had his training earlier. We dodged the bullet by two days. Woot! It was important to us to have our family and friends there to witness it. But I don't see anything wrong with JOP and then having a reception later, but there are so many gray areas that I'm just glad that we didn't have to do any of that.
