Today a job opening became available for a secretary position at another school in my district. My current boss was the one who pointed it out to me, and then my dad (who also works for the district) pointed it out again when I saw him for our nightly hike.
He is of the opinion that my boss would not feel any animosity if I were to apply for this job, and would be thrilled for me if I got it even though it would mean leaving my current position before the end of the year (likely in January). My boss is also thinking of leaving his job in June, and knows I'm planning on looking for a better paying/less commute job next year anyway.
The new job sounds awesome to me. I'd be working in guidance so no more dealing with teachers (or at least less dealing with them) and I'm fairly sure what I do now is a large majority of that job because our guidance likes to pass off their stuff onto my dept. It would be a 30 minute commute instead of 70 minutes, and would result in at least a $5,000 pay raise. Benefits would not be affected at all because I'd be staying within the district.
Tell me to apply (as long as you don't think I'm nuts). I only have 5 days to decide and get my resume going.
P.S - H has an interview tomorrow for a promotion to a closer store, cross your fingers please!
