Permits for Pictures?

Does anyone know do you need to get a permit from the town if you are going to take pictures on the city streets and stuff?  We are thinking of having pictures taken on the streets of Riverside.

Many thanks!

You don't need a permit if you will be on public property, only if you will be going onto private property.

I don't necessarily agree with the pp. Parks would be considered public property and you do need a permit to shoot in some of those, especially around the city. Some parks you don't need permits though.

Your best bet is to call the city hall or town hall. If you are looking to shoot in or around a park, you might want to start at the town's park district. I'm willing to bet they have a website. I would also recommend being as specific as you can about your desired shooting location.

Who knows, maybe you won't have any problems and the town won't even know what you're asking for.

We took pictures on Michigan ave in the loop. We did our engagement photos in Lincoln Park and we did not need permits for those. I imagine every town is different. It can't hurt to call the town hall to ask either.

Thanks Ladies!  Very helpful.  I'll give the town hall a quick call :)
