'Mornin

Morning all. How's everyone's Thursday? I'm already in a pissy mood. Today is our closing day so I'm goig to be slammed. It's been a really rough week and I can't seem to get un-tired. And my skin is still freaking out on me. I don't know what else I can do. I guess just keep up the new regimen and pray it really starts to kick in. It only has been a couple of days anyways.

  • Good morning.  I am in a pissy mood too, because I just took H to the airport and I just got a job offer rescinded.

  • Morning everyone. I am in a grumpy mood and tired as hell. This week couldn't over sooner. I woke up thinking today was Friday, I guess I am ready for the long weekend.

[QUOTE]Good morning! My Thursday is starting off okay, but I think I might skip out of work early today. It's my birthday! And I so don't feel like being here today...

  • Good morning, everyone!!

I am not pissy today. But I'm sorry you all are! **hugs for everyone**

H took my car to work today and I'm stuck with his car for the day. Getting a chip in his windshield fixed, getting the oil changed and tires rotated for him. Yes, this is how I spend my vacation. LOL!
  • Goooood morning! So far, my day hasn't been too bad. Kinda tired and I've been get texts all morning from DH complaining about his job. He absolutely hates it, and wants to quit so bad, but problem is that he has nothing else lined up. If he could find anything else better then I would encourage him to quit, but we need the money right now and there are no jobs around here.
  • WTF, KK?

I'M TRYING FISH. SHUT YOUR HOAR MOUTH. Please. :D

I feel your pain. We hate where we live and H hates his job. He is not advancing his skills or doing what he went to school for. We really want to move back home. There are no jobs in his field to be found right now and I can't support us alone.

Aw, you are so sweet. Thanks for the hugs - I really need some to get me through the day.
  • Yes, it is indeed morning. I feel like ass today, I've got a meeting at 6:30 tonight, and I forgot to turn in my time sheet for tutoring yesterday, so that means I worked extra hours the entire month of August out of the goodness of my cold, black heart. Shitballs.
  • Happy Birthday!

I'm ok.  Its rainy here and super early and I'm stressed BUT after tomorrow I have FOUR days in the wilderness with my H.

I am being micromanaged by this woman who I'm working with and its making me crazy!

Yeah, it's so dumb.  I had four interviews, did a drug screen, and then they sent me an offer letter and I-9's to fill out.  I went out and bought a bunch of new clothes.  Then a recruiter called and said I falsified some information and they have a strict policy about that and unfortunately they have to rescind the offer.  What I did was round the number instead of putting my past salary exactly to the dollar.  I guess I'm an idiot, but I really didn't think that was a huge deal.  I am really mad at myself and everybody else right now.

I just feel awful for him. He is still in school, and trying to finish as early as possible, so his options are even more limited really when it comes to trying to find a decent job with okay pay too. What field is your H in?
  • I'm sorry Kate =/ That sucks

  • Good morning!

LVB, I hope your day improves.  KentuckyKate, I'm so sorry about the job.  Here's hoping you get an even better one soon.

I'm at work, getting really antsy.  FI is picking me up at 2 and we're leaving for MA for FBIL's wedding on Saturday.  I'm so excited, but we're all a little nervous about the hurricane coming in.  Hopefully if it hits at all, it'll be tomorrow and the rehearsal, not the wedding, will have to be moved indoors.

  • Aww Kate that's horrible! That's a terribly strict interpretation of that rule. Almost nobody knows the exact dollar amount they earn in a year, unless they check their W2.
  • I'm here.  About to go out to a meeting though... Today is my Friday.  4 day weekend here I come!!  Although i work at the restaurant tomorrow night, double shift Saturday, and Sunday night... but no work anywhere on Monday... probably wedding stuff... OMG 3 weeks!
  • All I can say for today is "GO BUCKEYES"....so excited!

Thanks everyone.  And I guess if it makes a difference, I did round it up to the nearest thousand, not like to the nearest $5.  So what I put was $X8,000 instead of $X7,635 or something.  I explained to the recruiter that I wasn't trying to falsify anything, I was just rounding because I didn't know the exact figure at the time.  He asked me if I explained that to any of the managers or HR people I interviewed with, and I told him no, so he said since I didn't say anything, that constitutes falsifying information on an application.

I still think that's a bunch of B.S. I know it's water under the bridge now. But when I worked for a large corporation, we always assumed that people rounded their salary figures, and when it came down to the offer we just asked them to produce copies of their W2's so we could verify their income.

But you know... to look at the bright side. Perhaps if they're this crazystrict about a couple of hundred dollars on an application... who knows what else they're crazy about? Maybe it's a good thing you didn't end up getting the job. It still sucks though. **big hugs**

Was the recruiter a third party? Or an employee of the company?
  • Oh my gosh Kate. I can't even imagine why it would matter? Make it look like you're 'worth' more than you really were. Gosh, I'm so so sorry!

I'm meeting with Birdie next week for happy hour. You want to join in?

  • Yeah, that's a pretty good point, AK...  the recruiter worked for the company, but the background check was done by a third party.

Okay. I was going to say, if it was a third party recruiter they should have coached/prepped you for that. But a lot of times, corporate recruiters are discouraged from coaching applicants. Which I think is stupid.
  • Good morning everyone! HAPPY BIRTHDAY CFASZEWS! If I knew where you were in DC I would buy you a cupcake and send it over. In a totally non-creepy non-stalker way.

I'm in a terrific mood today, even though I have no right to be at all. The AC in my husband's POS car wasn't working on the way in this morning, so instead of hair I have a corona of frizz. I stopped for oranges and when I got to work and opened them, found most of them to be rotten. And then for the cherry on top, when I went to open a really important August file, I discovered I had overwritten it with September's information.

But hey! Good mood anyway! The only thing getting me down is that I'm not really losing weight anymore. I don't know why, but I'm going to tell myself it's because I'm building muscle. Yeah, that's it.
  • Are you friends with anyone here on FB? Salt, Fish, Birdie, Squirrly?

Oh, AK, you should friend me too :D
