centerpieces

Hey girls! So I have been playing around with ideas for centerpieces. A friend of mine gave me 30 tall glass cylinders from her wedding and my FMIL is saving all wine bottles for me so I need to incorporate them......what are some of your ideas?

Re: centerpieces

  • Fill the cylinders with corks and have the florist add some flowers to the top of the vase. You can go as simple as hydreas or something that is full. You can use the wine bottles and relabel them with table numbers. Add you engagement photo or monogram to the label and have it look customized.

    Hope that helps

  • Ditto PP thats a great idea! I think that would look great with the cork idea, i would take one and try it out and see if you like the look of it

  • My fiance and I are doing a ton of things with wine and wine bottles for our decorations... maybe a few of our ideas would help:
    1.  We have collected over a hundred wine bottles from friends and family (and us too... LOVE wine!  hee hee) and we purchased a glass cutter (only like $3 at Lowes).  We cut some of the bottle in half, filled them with corks, glued the bottle back together and tied a ribbon around over the cut/glue so you can't even tell it was cut.  It looks really cool!  I will try to find a way to post some pics.
    2.  We also took several wine bottle and filled them loosely with fake rose petals... this looks simple yet beautiful... we may toss a light in there (you can buy the at Michaels) but aren't sure right now.
    3.  We also fed ribbon into some empty wine bottles... this also looks beautiful.
** Each table will have a a dark purple table runner, several candles and different types of our filled wine bottles down the center...  I did a mock up and it looked really neat.

    4.  We purchased these awesome GIANT wine glasses at Michaels (used a 40% off coupon and went back twice to get them).  We will be using these for our guests to drop "wishes" in (little business sized cuts of papers that we have asked them to write well wishes on instead of a guest book.  I thought it was cute and unique and really tied in with our theme... plus I just HAD to find an excuse to use the ginormous wine glasses.

    5.  I will also be handwriting each guests name onto a cork.  I will be using these instead of escort cards.

    6.  I may also take 1-3 bottles full of wine and print labels out to use as table numbers (this may also help to cut down slightly on the bar bill... always awesome)

I know I have a few more things in the works, but my brain is a little fried right now from school.  I will try to dig through my wedding room tomorrow night and take some pics.

    Hope this helps!

  • Thanks for the ideas!
  • I am from the Quad Cities IA/IL and am also having a wine themed wedding.

I found the same GIANT wine glasses that Monica found but I am using them for my centerpieces.  Here is a pic of my first try at arranging them DIY. As you will see I incorporated apples and pears in with it because so many wines include that in the ingredients used.

I am also using corks for my escort cards. I am incorporating grapevine into alot of elements such as around the base of my cake stand, 3" grapevine rings that I am using as napkin ring holders ($1.77 for 6 at Hobby Lobby and I got them 50% off that price), and in some of the floral decor.
  • I LOVE your bio Monica!!! Gorgeous!!! You have given me so many good ideas!!!
  • Thank you so much, Michelle!  I love listening to other brides, checking out their pages and sharing my ideas.  (I have WAY too much time at work to daydream... and I defintely spend WAY WAY WAY too much time in class daydreaming).  Glad I you like the bio!
PS-- every time I see the pic on the front page of your bio (yes, I randomly check knottie bios for updates... DORK!!) it totally cracks me up!  Your super big cheesy "I just said YES!" look is so awesome!  You look truly happy!
