Ok, so I have been keeping my sh*t together fairly well this week. I have yet to freak out because of stress...that is until this morning...
Our DJ is someone I work with who has frequently DJ'ed the school dances (I work at a high school). He is very friendly, reliable, and genuinely cares about his job.
I just called him to get the number of DJs (for vendor meals) and he starts telling me that he put together a great list for our dinner/cocktail music. I requested classical rock (nothing too heavy). He asks me if I ever heard of James Brickman. Ummm...NO! So I look him up, and puked in my mouth. It is NOT the type of music FI or me, or anyone in our family listens to. Then, he said he's dedicating a song to FI and me. I'm like, oh, really? During dinner? No, for us to dance to. UMMMMMM...NO! That's what the first dance is for. The name of the song? "The Vow." I don't even know who sings it to know that it is NOT something I'd like.
FI and I have a rock/classical rock theme (first dance: Van Morrison, dad/daughter: Bruce Springsteen, mom/son: Fleetwood Mac, entrance: QUiet Riot, B & G entrance: Van Halen, Cake cutting: Def Leppard, last dance: Starship).
I know it's my wedding and I can specify what I want, but I thought if I gave him general guidelines and suggestions he'd understand what type of music we like. Now I feel like I have to list every damn song we want played so we're not stuck with cheesey horrible music that will totally affect the fun of the wedding.
Ugh...I will talk to him, but this still stresses me out. Thank you for listening to me vent: Any song suggestions you think would help him understand how to get the party started????
