Wedding day transportation complications due to OOT guests

Hello again,

Here is my story in a nutshell: My father is flying in his family from Florida for the wedding and they are all staying in our home... All 6 of them. I am really mad my dad is paying for their flight, housing them, and taking on the burden of their transportation as well but that's a different story. He won't allow us to ask them for money for transportation and gets offended whenever we bring up the issue... so here is MY issue.

Including the Bride and Groom we have a bridal party of 14 people. We also have my family whom I live with (4) plus the OOT guests (6) and I have to find transportation for everyone! The venue is far and because we have OOT guests my parents will be going back home with them at the end of the night. I want to provide my parents transportation so that they can enjoy the wedding they are paying for but I am feeling weird about paying for a limo for these other people that are just taking advantage of my dad. Regardless, it is his family and I want everyone to be happy.

How did/ or are your parents planning on getting to your wedding? Are they driving themselves or are they riding in a separate limo? I am not sure what people usually do and was wondering if it is normal for the parents to get a limo. Please let me know. ANY advice is appreciated! :)

    My situation is VERY different from yours, but here is what we are doing. We aren't so huge about everyone having 10 limos, so we have 1 limo that will pick up me, my MOH, BM and parents from our home. My FI will have his BM drive the guys and his parents there. The same limo will take the bridal party (no parents) to our photo location after the ceremony and then to the reception. Then the limo is gone. We live close enough that everyone will drive themselves home.

     The few OOT guests we have are all staying at family members homes, so they will ride with them or rent a car. None of our guests have a problem with that.

    We didn't need limos because we got married at our venue.  My mom and DH's parents came separately in their own car; they drove the grandparents.  Our OOT guests either rented cars or carpooled with members of family. 

    It sounds to me that your father's family should rent a big car and have the 6 of them go together to the venue.  If he is able to afford a separate limo for his family, that would work; it could just follow yours.  But then does your FI's family need a limo too?

    I'm thinking that maybe I will have other guests drive my OOT guests and I'll rent a Sedan or something for my parents and maternal grandparents. I don't want my parents to drive because the venue is really far and in a city they are not familiar with. Also it is in a wooded area that is very dark and they are not used to driving in places like that. I think I would just be very worried especially since they paid for the wedding and would feel like they couldn't drink because they had to drive.

    We don't have alot of people coming to the wedding that would be able to drive my family around but I guess I could make some requests. Let's see!

    I totally understand your concern with your parents driving in an unfamiliar area. When my FIL's came to the US for my FBIL's wedding, they were left to fend for themselves driving-wise. Problem is, they're French and don't know English! They got lost quite a few times. Fortunately for us, this time they're staying at my FBIL's home, so they will be responsible for day-of transportation. If not, I probably would have done the same.
