I need to lose at least 80lbs. before my wedding...HELP!!

Hi everyone!  I'm very excited to be recently engaged.  While my fiance is very awesome and loves me just the way I am, becoming engaged made me more aware of how I look and feel.  When he traveled here recently to celebrate with my family, he and I took a trip to Zoo Atlanta.  When we had to walk back to our car (up the hill at Grant Park) I could hardly make it without having to stop twice and catch my breath.  How embarrassing! Embarassed  When he met me I was a size 12 and 180lbs (2000).  Now I'm a size 22 and 270lbs (2010).  I want to not only look my best but feel my best when I walk down the aisle next October.

I guess the long and the short is....is anyone else kind of in this same predicament right now or just want to get together to walk 2 or 3 times a week?  The day-to-day details of wedding planning are stressful enough without having to worry about my weight.  Anyone want in?

Congrats to all the brides-to-be Laughing!!

What part of town are you in?? Something that is helping me is Spark People. They have an online nutrition tracker that is easy to use and really helps you see where your calories are going! Be reasonable with your weight loss and don't get frustrated with set backs. Good luck!!

I've done Weight Watchers in the past and plan to do it again starting this fall.  WW is more of a lifestyle change than a diet; I didn't stick with the changes so I gained back some of the weight.  They focus on portion control, eathing healthily and working out.  I think it's one of the few plans that you really can do for the rest of your life.  Congrats on your engagement and good luck on your plan!  I am not in the ATL area, but perhaps we can encourage each other on the board.

We had a few knotties on here (including myslef) that wanted to lose some weight. I am signed up for Spark People and I LOVE it! Maybe we should start a knottie support group for those who need/ want to lose some weight??

I have an account on SP as well.  I'd be into working out together also!

My dad and my sister had great success with Weight Watchers in the past and based on their results, I would definitely recommend WW. Best of luck to you!

I have been doing weight watchers too and I have lost about 5 lbs so far, I really recommend it. It really is a lifestyle change and it there are no "bad" foods, just teaches portion control, moderation, and planning (which is a biggie). I go to WW community boards and they offer a lot of support. If I were you, I would do the meeting. There are women on there who have lost 200 lbs!!!

And certainly find some girls to walk with, I have increased my walking to running and am running my first 5k next week! You are smart to start now, because I think losing it is a life-style change that will come with time.

    Good luck!

There is also a program I love called The Diet Solution.  If you look at their Facebook page you can see lots of success stories.  It's run by a nutritionist who is very interactive with members.  It is also a lifestyle change.

I'm planning to start back on that eating plan and to do a mix of high intensity interval training and pilates 3-4 times per week.

I live in the West End so I'm not very far from many downtown parks.  Thank you all for the suggestions and support.  My grandmother and great-aunt used to do WW and talked about it all the time back in the day.  Spark People sounds interesting as well!

If any ladies are interested in walking in Piedmont Park sometime next week, let me know.  I will be out of town next Tuesday through Saturday, but I would like to meet up and walk sometime on Sunday.  If anyone is interested, let me know if Sunday is good for you and what time.  I'll update again soon on my progress.  YAY!!!Smile

First, the paragraph above cracks me up because I am in pretty good shape and I am panting climbing that hill!!! .. why was it necessary to put the parking lot at the top?????? Don't feel badly about that.

As for the working out stuff... I wanted to drop a lot before my wedding so I started keeping track of calories in and calories out. On sparkpeople.com (mentioned in PP) I tracked everything I ate (more or less!) and every time I worked out for a year.

    GL!

I have lost over 140lbs. I still have 50 or so to go. You can do it!!!  Just work hard with diet and exerise 5-6 days a week and rest and have a cheat MEAL (not a cheat DAY) once a week.

Thank you all!  If anyone is interested, I'll be walking in Piedmont Park beginning at 9:30am.  If anyone is interested meet me at the 10th St. entrance near Grady High School.  YAY!
