Are kids allowed?

Is it okay to allow children at your wedding if you plan on having a drinks and hors d' oeurves only reception?

Re: Are kids allowed?

  • I don't see a difference from having kids at a sit down dinner. Maybe just see if the caterer can offer something that the kids will be able to eat, like chicken nuggets for example.
  • Sure.  If the parents think it's too late for their kids, they won't bring them.

  • Ooooo GREAT idea!  Thanks!

  • Nope, not allowed. There's an invisible fence that will keep them out if they even try to come in.
  • You are serving non-alcoholic beverages too, right? And hors d'ouevres of almost any sort would satisfy every child (ages 11 down to 3) in my immediate family. I don't get where people are all worried about serving children nothing but chicken nuggets. Really? Sure, that's all some children will eat. But that's all some adults will eat, too.
  • Yep. Just remember when kids are involved, the "seat for every butt" rule becomes even more important, b/c they'll probably camp out at a table somewhere and do kid stuff.

Lol roxy. I agree with the others though, the type of food doesn't change the appropriateness factor of having kids at the wedding. If you want them there, invite them. I'd be more concerned that they had something to do, like coloring or playing with some toys.

  • Our reception will be in August at a community center on a sandy beach where there are swings and a jungle gym and whatnot so I was thinking they could play outside if they wanted.
