rehearsal dinner gift ideas

Hi everyone! I know it's customary for the bride and groom to give gifts to the bridal party, parents, readers and other wedding "helpers" at the rehearsal dinner, and I was curious to know what gifts other people have purchased for theirs.

I'd like to give people gifts they'll actually use and enjoy, as opposed to something that will collect dust on their mantle or in their jewelry box. I was thinking about getting people gift certificates for their favorite restaurant, winery, hair salon, etc.,  so they could treat themselves to something nice... and then maybe I could pair the gift certificate with a card with a hand-written message inside and maybe a cute little box of chocolates.  Is that too informal or unpersonal?

Thanks for your help and advice!

Re: rehearsal dinner gift ideas

  • That sounds like a great idea.  I think it's best when the people's interests and tastes are taken into consideration, instead of a generalized gift like an engraved flask or something.  I think it's a good idea to shop for the person like you would if it were their birthday or Christmas.  It's much more personal and thoughtful.

  • Thanks so much for your thoughts!  Yes, I agree that the stereotypical engraved picture frames, flasks, jewelry boxes, glasses, etc. aren't very personal... Mostly, I was worried since I know those gifts are the gifts people expect to receive, and I feared gift certificates might look tacky.  Phew. :)
  • That gives me ideas, too. Thanks!
