Wedding Vows & Ceremony Discussions

Are you having an outdoor ceremony?

Our church canceled our ceremony due to unexpected construction needs. There is no other church, so we're trying to decide whether we should have the ceremony in an adjacent park to the reception site or indoor the actual reception site.

Here are the concerns:

- "the walk down the aisle" is very, very long
- I'm wearing 4 inch heels on the grass
- there is no "shelter" for me
- end of August = heat! (however, ceremony 6pm)

The one concern we don't have is the weather, since the reception site will schedule the ceremony 2 days out if the forecast calls for rain.

Thoughs...?

Re: Are you having an outdoor ceremony?

  • Well, what is the plan b in case it might rain?
  • I would say you can't wear 4 inch heels on grass.  So there's that.  It sounds like, with all of the concerns you listed, that you would rather just get married inside.

For your heels, you could try something like one of these products. I'm also having an outdoor wedding and am probably going to buy them for myself and my BMs.

I don't really have a shelter either. I've heard people suggest waiting in a car to come out. For the heat, you could provide buckets of water bottles and fan programs to the guests. How long is your ceremony going to be? I'd try to keep it pretty simple if and short (20 mins?) to cut down on the amount of time people have to actually be outside. Sorry, I can't help you with the aisle length.
  • I'm looking for another church now - we're willing to travel to the next town. It's just that we're getting married on a friday night and we're worried about traffic. An outdoor ceremony would be nice, but there are too many uncertainities -- plus I don't want to ruin my heels :) In all seriousness, the church is a critical element of the day and I wouldn't feel right anywhere else...
