I've put in a call to my OB. If he doesn't get back to me by Monday, I'll be walking into the office.

Good. Another thought, do you have mental health coverage specifically? I was able to bypass my PCP and get directly in to see someone. And if I had needed it she would have gotton me meds that day. My insurance also provided an over the phone consult if I had felt like I needed it.

Maybe your GP can help. SSRIs take a while to kick in, so maybe they'll hook you up with some sort of  bezo in the mean time. However, if you are BFing, maybe not. I've never worked with moms before. All of my patients were crazy crack addicts. Luckily, you are not my demographic.

I believe we do, which is good because I don't have a PCP. But I wanted to see my OB specifically since I think a lot of this is PPD related as well as situational.

Does your OB have a PA you could see?

No PA with the OB. Hematolgist, yes. OB no. Shame the hemo can't do anything.

I don't think there would be any harm in using the insurance's mental health line. That's how I was able to get an instant list of names and I found out I got 5 free visits. Anyone worth their salt will know how to handle PPD, where some OB's truly aren't as trained to deal with it. One cannot simple throw drugs at a problem to make it go away, which unfortunately is what many Ob's do.

This isn't just a PPD thing TG, you have a lot of other issues in your life right now that also need to be dealt with and talked over with a trained professional.

I think hmo advice to you was really good. Try to think about setting SMALL goals for yourself. Also, what DG said, formula is fine, not a failure. If we adopt a baby, you would fault me for giving formula, would you? No. So treat yourself as well as you would treat me, OK?

I'm over the BF hump. I've accepted it and I'm ok with it. I had a good conversation with my Lactation Consultant this morning. I'll give M what I can and she'll get benefits from both the BM and the formula.

It's everything else. And I'm really tired of crying every day.

That's why I'm seeking professional help, Zzilla. The leaning isn't helping and I don't know how to make the changes on my own. Not to mention that it's all really overwhelming at the moment and I think that getting some sort of chemical help might allow me to think a little more clearly rather than get bogged down.

see if your insurance has an EAP (employee assistance program) - this is what i had mentioned to you before re: getting counseling. i know that mine has 6 free sessions per issue and will help you get hooked up with a counselor. with everything going on right now, you need to be able to talk to someone (besides your OB) - you may have PPD, but there's so much more that goes beyond that.

i'm no pro, but you know how to reach me if you want to talk/vent.

Also, I can tell you in my experience with my EAP - when you call, you get immediate help. I had an appointment with a psychologist within hours of my initial  call. I was never a believer in therapy, but it really helped.

Just be prepared with some kleenex and save the "DTMFA" because I'm not quite at that point yet.

After we got my mom's dx, I lost it. The best thing I did was treat myself out to a dinner with friends and I LEFT MY CELL PHONE AT HOME. I'm with Zilla - take some alone time. Your friends and family want you happy and healthy.
