Snarky Brides

2 dresses?!

I went looking for dresses last week and fell in love with one dress that I thought was "The one." Trying it on, I felt all teary-eyed.

Then I went today with my mom and a friend and found a new dress that I loved! It is gold and has an antique feel to it. It was a dress that has been discontinued and I really loved it but I also loved the other dress! My mom and friend LOVED the gold dress. The only turn off is I wanted to wear white while at the same time, the color is what leads to the feel of it being "antique!" Ack. I also tried on the dress I love and after the gold dress it's pretty but doesn't feel as special. Heh.

Anyway, the gold dress is $600 (was the only one they had and can't be reordered), the white dress is $1,000 and my mother loved the gold dress so much she promised me $200 to buy it. She also had me ask and the store own said if I buy the gold dress and the white dress (because I really can't make up my mind), she'd know the gold dress down to $480. My mom wanted me to buy both, I bought the gold for now. If I decide on the other then the dress will only cost me $280 after the discount and my mother's $200 and I can have the train removed and wear it as as dress.

Anyway, I am kind of freaking now cause I LOVE both!

The dresses.

  • The gold dress is beautiful!  I like the white dress but, I think that the gold one has way more personality to it.  Gorgeous!

No pics. I didn't think to take any and I actually didn't even buy the gold till I got home and realized I couldn't miss out on the dress so I called and put a deposit on it.
  • Honestly, I don't like the white dress at all. But, I love the gold dress, it's beautiful. I think you made the right choice by purchasing that one.
  • If you tried dress #1 on after dress #2, and your reaction is, "it's pretty, but it's not as special," then your dress is dress #2.

  • I like the gold one...its elegant and classic but also different
  • Also - the "gold dress" looks more ivory/champagne than "gold."  Ivory is a much more flattering color on most skin types than stark white.

  • I am glad you guys love the 1st dress. I wish I had taken a picture wearing it!

Guess I may have to rethink the bridesmaid dresses. They are supposed to be a deep green. Can I carry off green bridesmaid dresses with a gold dress?

  • They're both very pretty dresses. If you said the gold dress feels more "special," then that's the sign pointing to the gold dress.

However, if you truly and honestly love them both (and this might be an unpopular opinion, but oh well), I see no problem in wearing the white one for the ceremony and formal pictures and then wearing the gold one for the reception.

    GL.
  • I love the gold dress!

If it helps I have always wanted a bright white dress and found on that I loved that was bright white. Then I tried on a dress in Light Gold and the color is what sold me and I got it! I bet the gold tone looks awesome on!
  • The gold dress is gorgeous.  Go with that one.  And green would absolutely work with the gold dress.

  • I really do love the gold one! It's great when a bride decides to do something different. Plus, it's cheaper :)

And green BM dresses with a gold wedding dress would be GORGEOUS. I love the green-gold combo, especially if it's a jade or forest green. It looks so elegant and lush.
  • I like the gold one better.... i have to dresses.. i couldn't pick between the two so my mom bought one and I bought the other and Ill be changing half way through

My mother suggested that. I can't reconcile not wanting a wedding to having a wedding to having TWO dresses for it. LOL.

I love the gold one! LOVE it, and I'm not generally a fan of gold. Also, a deep green with gold is stunning.
