Wedding Package Prices/Negotiation

Hi girls!

I'm still researching venues and it's SO hard! I also feel like I'll never be able to commit!

wondering if from your experience you were able to negotiate a lot from the prices that venues have on their packages. Were any of you able to negotiate either to lower the prices or include more?

If so please let me know which venues you were able to find these "deals"?

    Hi there, I choose the Bank of America towers.  We negotiated a bit, but since our guest list was only 55 adults, and we were choosing the teir one package, we just got extras, and $250 off their ceremony fee.  Tresha added two extra types of liquor with out an upgrade fee, and is letting us hold our rehearsal dinner there for just the cost of the food (usually it's $92/pp).  It's not really a huge savings but anything helps.

    i say to first look over the packages and see exactly what you dont want and what you do...i wasnt able to change the price but i was able to take off things i didnt want and add stuff i did and keep the price the same...so it really helped cause had we just added stuff it would have been way out of budget... HTH

    I know what you mean. I've been engaged for a year and I'm finally putting a deposit on my venue tomorrow. I've had serious commitment issues because I just feel that once you mention the word wedding, the prices sky - rocket.

    Evelyn and I are getting married at the same venue, and like her, the price wasn't negotiated, however, I was able to switch things out of the packages, and put things in, keeping the same price.

    depending on the place i think you can negotiate a little. Maybe 10%. When i was looking at venues i told themwhat  my budget was and some venues gave me a discount but took some things off(pastries and small things)

    I was able to get a discount of about 50% off the price per person at the Grove Isle.  Obviously some things were removed like a few hours of open bar, but nothing that we felt like we and our guests could live without or would even notice.

    It took me four months to lock down a venue.  I went to see at least 35 and got pricing/packages from probably double or triple that.  Don't get discouraged.  You will find one.

    I was able to negotiate a great contract, but that was because I was upfront about what we wanted to pay.  I also gave suggestions on what was important to us and what wasn't, so that helped.  Not to mention that I found out that they were at a bridal show around when we booked, so I was able to get an added bonus of breakfast for 50 the morning after and a 2 night stay (we are each getting a room the night before).

    It really depends on the venue.  Which ones are you looking at?

    Definitely it depends on the venue.  One venue i spoke to that i found out of my price range really was able to negotiate quite a bit! (though not down to my price point).  My venue which was in my price range did not negotiate when it came to price per say, but we were able to negotiate for more things, like more served at the cocktail hour.

    Thank you all SO SO SO much!! All your info helps!! Right now I'm really in love with the Cocoplum Women's Club because of how much the package includes and the gorgeous hostoric room, but I'm going to keep searching.

    Hi everyone.  I'm also in the process of looking for venues and am slighlty freaking out cuz I've already been engaged over 4 months and still nothing.  My situation is a little different though - I want outside catering (and I would prefer to have it in a hotel).  I'm not sure how to negotiate, or what to start with.  Do you just start by sayin "this is out of my budget" or how do you work the whole thing out?  Does Vizcaya allow negotiations?  If I rented the space for BoA (Sky Lobb/Sky Terrace), would they let me negotiate?
