I am doing a 5 tier cake where only the top ties is real, then sheet cakes, all fondant and snowkflake pieces on it. I think it is going to be able $350 total

Im making it myself, I'm a cake decorator, and I KNOW how expensive they are!
crazy expensive.
for basic buttercreme frosting they start out at $3.00 per serving, and if you want fondant it starts out at $5.00 per serving.
And wedding cakes serve way more cake then typical, so a small 6" and 8" 2 tiered cake serves like 36 people! so minimum $108-$180

We're doing a 4 tiered square cake with buttercream icing and fondant details. The total for 300 people is about $1200 and includes the rhinestone monogram on top.

Ours is a three tier and a square groom's cake for $500...serves around 175 if I remember right. Our other quote was $800 for just the wedding cake and the one we are using tastes so much better.

Okay. Let me think.

We have a wedding cake and a grooms cake.

The wedding cake is two layers round (16 inch, and 12, inch). The top layer is real. The bottom is fake. The whole thing is iced with fondant and decorated with sugar flowers. We have enough sheet cake in the back (same flavors, same bakery) for the top layer and sheet cakes to cover 90 guests.

The grooms cake is just 1 16 inch round layer with fondant and sugar "decorations" (things that matter to FI). There are sheet cakes in the back (same flavor, same baker) to serve 90 guests.

For both cakes it was 550. We saved 200 by doing the fake layer of the wedding cake and the sheet cake supplements.

We actually just tasted/ordered/paid for ours today!

It came out to $229.25 for a three-tier cake (6", 8" and 10"), all different flavors/fillings, for 96 people, including the $20 deliver charge.

We may add an extra 1/4 sheet cake for $17, if more people RSVP than anticipated.

$795 for 4 tiers, buttercream with fillings. Can't remember what it was supposed to feed but it was huge. We brought home an entire tier. Looking back, it probably should have been 3-tier and more in the $600 range for our guest size of 110.

Around $40 for 50 servings. 3 tiers, homemade fondant covered, bottom tier Belgian chocolate truffle (gluten free). I made it myself, so that kept down the costs.

4 tiers, 150 servings, vanilla cake with buttercream icing, no filling was $150.00. It was made by a lady who does cakes on the side, so that's why it was cheaper. But it was delicious. And she made my FI a chocolate sheet cake decorated like a pool table for free!

we spent $800 for a 4 tier cake that serves 150 or so. (maybe closer to 200)

but it's a really elaborate cake. The handmade edible seashells etc was what drove the price up

I make cakes so I'm doing my own... so about $125 for ingredients and will serve about 250 people. I'm doing buttercream... I don't care for fondant. Fondant does cost a little more... what you're really pay for though is the time your baker is putting into the cake so if you choice a simple design it will be much less expensive then an elaborate one.

We spent $500 for a 4-tiered cake feeding 160 people. It's got a different flavor for each tier, and will have white ganache frosting and sugar paste flowers on it.

$138 for a three tier cake that served 138 guests, so $1 per slice. I got it from Walmart! Their designs are on the simpler side but pretty, and everyone loved the cake. They had no idea. It was delicious.
