ugh! Is it just me or does it drive anyone else crazy when you see posts like, show me your............or anything else that is vague in the title.

I have been wanting to say it for a while now but look how many are on the first couple pages here.

Put it in the subject line! i like to skim & only go into posts if the title is appealing, i don't have all day to check out every single thread.

ok end rant for now lol.

i like the pip, but i wish it stated what it was in the title, i might be missing out on some good threads but can't be bothered with them for reasons aformentioned

Just like i would not buy a book from the bookstore if there was nothing to say what it was off the hop.

I kinda like the show me your... ones as long as the person posting it has checked to make sure there isn't a really recent one of them, which I haven't seen.

Other vague ones, however, can be annoying.

I just wish TK would sort properly again.

You know I HATE poorly written subject lines! It is a waste of people's time. They have to click to figure out if they have anything to add to the conversation.

I don't always have time for all the clicking, so I often don't bother.

I'm with Midge, as long as it's not a recent repeat it doesn't tend to bother me. I open them quickly to see if the subject interests me or not.

It doesn't hurt to ask. People like responses to their posts and if they know that some people aren't even looking because of their title, they'd probably be willing to change it. It's been brought up before and everyone did their best to make them specific titles. We have some new girls, so it doesn't hurt to bring it up again.

No one is forcing anyone to change, just a suggestion.

Exactly. Some of us had the idea to only do one checks thread a day and although it took a while to get into the habit and sometimes more then one is still posted we worked on it because some people had a preference for it. We're a community and part of being a community is working on certain things to make things easier and to compromise.

Thanks for making that clear. One thing that is a little frustrating about them that I just encountered is remembering which one is which. Like some of them I don't need to see/can't participate in. It's hard to remember which poster posted a particular item to be shown.

I honestly don't see a problem with the title. It kinda creates the mystery that you have to click on the post to see what it's all about. It only takes 2 seconds. If I don't like the post or I'm not interested in the topic, I just move on to another post. Not a big deal.

Ok TK, I think you've eaten enough posts. It's probably going to show up now, but I basically said thanks for clearing it up and that it's slightly frustrating remembering which poster posted which item to be shown. It's really not a huge deal either way though.

Now that I'm thinking about it, this is connected to something I'm dealing with at work. I work with 16-19 year olds. Online, they tend to interact in tiny bits. On Facebook, for example, one will start post something like "Any runners?" and within hours, there will be 100 comments, mostly short, but written by 5-10 people.

Elsewhere on Facebook, some academics will be engaged in discussion on an issue. There might be 10 comments between five people, all paragraphs with in depth views explained

Both groups are creating connections and getting to know each other, they just do it in very different ways.

We're all trying to connect...we just have different styles. Maybe we can meet in the middle?
