Re: good morning...

  • kd, whisky does that all the time. If there is a glass of anything, he's guaranteed to drink out of it. Then knock it over, because he sucks like that. But he's getting fat, so he doesn't get even a lick of a skittle.

And I just realized that The Hunger Games books everyone raves about on here are written by the author of the Gregor the Overlander/ The Underland series, which I love. So now I guess I have to read those too.
  • Sesh, can I ask you what you write? you can PM me if you don't want to put it on here

  • She wrote Love Medicine, and The Last Report of the Miracles at Little No Horse. Both are based around Indian Reservations, and explore Native spirituality in an assimilated culture.

Rho- I'm in Central Montana in an almost-an-actual city.  My photos were taken at my Grandparent's farm, near a little mining town.

  • That's incredibly cool, Rho.

    Goooooood morning everyone.

  • Jas-those sound interesting. Now I have like 15 books on my reading list.

rho--I'll PM you. I usually can't access PMs from home for some reason, so it might have to wait until I'm at work tomorrow.
  • Good morning MIAF! *waves*

Sesh-I look forward to said PM =)

  • Oh Sesh! I have an art/lit question for you! I am making posters for Banned Book Week. We are having a bunch of events at my school.

Do you think it would look neat to pick a cover of a banned book, and then replace all the text with the event info?
    Or would that be obnoxious?

not obnoxious at all. I think it would be cool, and a clever way to use a banned book to your advantage. Or even multiple books.

What are some of the books on the list?
  • Sesh- Whenever I see your siggy, I think of it as a Caraffe, and it cracks me up.

FI is working today, he'll be back tomorrow, I'm going to finish unpacking boxes and possibly put up some artwork.

I am also going to attempt to change my location as I've moved recently.

  • Hi everyone!

Kd - Yay for a husband coming back :) I hate it when Scott is gone for long periods of time.

I'm so happy you are going to check out a bunch of books Sesh, I hope you like them :) I'm trying to think of which book/series you should start with and can't make up my mind! If they have it I think you should start out with Anne Bishops Sebastean/Belladonna or The Black Jewel Trilogy. Sarah Douglass's series that starts with The Wayfarers Redemption is also really good. It did take me to tries to get into the first chapter of her book though, it's a bit complicated at the beginning and is a loooong series.

I've been staring at my new fish all morning long while working out. I think I need to get another female or two because the one I have keeps getting picked on by the dominant male.
  • Sesh- The books range from To Kill a Mocking Bird to Twilight to The Chocolate War. I think I'm going to do a bunch of different covers so it will appeal to all different people.

We're having local celebrities do readings from their favorite banned book. Our mayor has refused to participate. :)

Katie- What kind of fish did you get?

  • Dalmation mollies.

    (Not mine, just google image)

Jas, I think you would really enjoy the Crucible series from Sarah Douglass. It's fantasy but based around Joan of Arc, King Richard, Catherine and Phillip. Without giving too much away the story is of a nobleman turned friar who is pulled into the battle between angels and who he thinks are demons. It has a lot of good theology about the teachings of the church and the teachings of Jesus.
  • That sounds right up my alley Katie. I'm taking a speculative fiction class right now as well, and I'm loving it. I also want to get Margaret Atwood's new novel.

  • Do you like Celtic type stuff? There's another great series from Juliet Marillinear that is similar. Druids, Tuatha De Danaa, the meeting of the Christian world with the pagan.  I think a lot of libraries also have her books so that could be worth looking into as well.

    I have so many books..lol
  • I will add that to my giant To Read list! I took a UFO class (yeah, seriously) and my Prof. wrote a book about the Celtic fairy faith and how the Catholic church used their folklore to draw them in to the church.

  • Good mornin Katie.

I really need to go shopping again, but I dont feel like it.......PMS. I have accomplished laundry, vaccuming and dusting. I tell myself the rest can wait till tomorrow. Ugh, I feel lazy.

Pretty fish, I dont do fish too well, they tend to die on me. But I'm sure my cat would love one.

  • KD- Sounds like you need to go to the grocery store and buy lots of chocolate, stat.

  • I was horrible with fish until I started working at PSmart. I did apologize to the poor person who had to catch them yesterday because I am totally that pain in the asss customer who wants a specific fish. Oh wells :)

I accomplished a 45 minute work out this morning but that's about it. Other than that just knotting, working on a scarf, and catching up on Catching Mummies/RHODC

No I had my badness last night. I bought my dinner at Bob Evans, and I brought home a piece of Pumpkin Cheesecake pie. It was heaven. But I'm trying to lose weight, so I was a bad girl.
