Wedding Gown Pricing?

Are bridal gowns priced differently at different stores?
Once I find a dress I like, should I be shopping a few stores to get the best price or will they all be priced about the same?
I see that certain dresses are available at certain stores. I just don't know if they are all going to be the same price or not.

You could call the stores and ask for the prices. I didn't think they'd give me the price of the dress but I called a store and asked and they told me. But I'm not sure about it being a different price in a different store, I'm waiting a while before I call anywhere else.

The dress that I got was less at one store than the other, however, it was less than $100 difference. But there was a holiday sale for an extra 15% off so I would also see if there are any special sales going on as well.

Pricing is really more about the designer than the store. Different designers price their dresses in different ranges. Some stores carry more low priced designers, some carry primarily high end designers, and other stores carry designers at multiple price points. Variation between stores for pricing for a particular dress is likely to be very minor relative to the price of the dress. For example, the dress I am choosing is about $1600 and the pricing between a couple stores that carry that designer in my area varied by only about $50-100.

Most designers have set points for their dresses, and unless they are being clearanced or discontinued, they will be that same price. The most a shop can do is differ by less than $100. Often times, they will throw in deals rather than giving you a cheaper deal on a dress.

This is similar to iPods and video game systems. Apple sets a price for an iPod. Stores cannot sell them lower than those prices. However, many times stores have deals where they throw in a gift card with the purchase, or throw in some accessories. That way they are essentially lowering the price, without lowering it.

The first dress I liked was an Allure gown that was more than I wanted to spend, the local bridal salon had it for $850, but I found it at other stores for $600. Like someone said in a pp, the bridal salon had some extra's thrown in with that price, like $100 credit towards a hair piece, and $60 credit towards shoes, etc.

i got my gown at David's Bridal during a sale ( they have them often )
my dress was orginally $800 but i got it for about $350!

I would call around and ask. One of the stores gave me 2 different quotes on one dress.....

$1600 - pressing of the gown, $50 off headpiece or veil, $50 Off wedding gown preservation, free garment bag, free storage until wedding day, 50% downpayment

the other price was 1100-- payment in full required, u pay and take the dress home with u.... Gown pressing additional $75

So I had choice to pay 1600 for storage in the store or pay 1200 and take the dress home, keep it at my parents, so my FI won't see the dress

Just ask the store what options do you have. And DO NOT BUY a sample dress... I thought it might be a great deal, they went down 200, but after examining the dress carefully I realized that it will cost more to clean it and fix some small things. After all I am glad I was thinking rationally and didn't get the sample dress :c)

You can also try pricing gowns with an authorized online dealer like Pearl's Place, Netbride, Jay's Bridal or RK Bridal. They don't carry every designer, but they do offer gowns at discounted prices. For example, I was looking at an Impression gown that retails near $800, and Netbride quoted me a price almost $200 lower.
