Sequestering question

Is there zero contact with the outside world?  The Casey Anthony jurors are being sequestered.  They were talking about another case with an 8.5 month sequester.  Can yoy imagne?

They may be allowed personal calls to family. Monitored, though.

Do you still only get $15 a day when you're sequestered for 8 months? That's the part I can't imagine.

I didn't think about that.  Are jobs protected?

I'm pretty sure there's a law that employees must get time off for jury duty, but I don't think it has to be paid.

Do you get a choice? Like is one of the jury selection questions something along the lines of "are you physically able to cut off contact from the outside world for a week or more?" Because I have to believe they can't force someone into something like that. But I also have to believe that by letting people out of it, they basically limit juries to the unemployed.

The media and traffic alone have been a major PITA here.

Psh. Months in a hotel? I'd survive.

I think if you support a family or have a real danger of losing your job, you'd disqualify yourself during jury selection. Especially for a case where they know sequestering is likely, I think they screen very carefully for people who wouldn't be able to handle the solitude or the time required.

I would definitely need conjugal visits, though. But we wouldn't have to talk.

the only thing i know about this case is that carrann was all over it because -- i don't know if you know this -- she's a mom, too.  constant updates on this case and lil wayne news.

man, no people, no tv and no internet?  there would be a lot of fire-setting.  a lot.

Maybe that is why I don't know about it - because I am not a mom.
