Outdoor Wedding in June?

Need some opinions on having an outdoor wedding on a pond in mid June, does anyone think it would be too hot? good idea or bad idea?

I went to one two weeks ago and it was miserable!!!!  Sorry to be a downer but it really was bad- the other thing is the pop up thunderstorms :-(  and one last bad thing...BUGS!

Kind of depends on where in SC you're planning this--mountains?  Maybe, but that'd be about it.  And ditto the bugs and t-storms--both are very likely!  Sorry--any way you could do it in the fall?  That could be very pretty...

Mid June is 96 here. Listen to Vintagegal. You also have to worry about pop up thunderstorms and BUGS!!!  It would me miserable unless you setup tents and rented fans to provide a breeze. I went to a lakeside wedding in June and the girls looked like a mess. They had their hair and makeup done; however the makeup was running off because of sweat and their hair was falling down because of the heat and humidity. The grandmother had to be escorted back to her car in the middle of the ceremony because she was too hot and was going to pass out. I had so many mosquito bites that I itched for weeks.

I'd go for sometime in May. But, if you are set on mid June consider the fans and tents for shade.

I did it and it was beautiful. It just depends on what you think you and your guests are willing to deal with. All of my guests new it would be hot and we had water and our programs were fans.  It is up to you though!

I'm planning my wedding for June of next year and the ceremony (not the reception) will be outdoors.  I have also been worried about the heat but our ceremony is scheduled to be outdoors on a grass lawn by the beach.  There is a nice breeze that flows through and we are planning to have the ceremony at 6:30 or 7pm so that we won't be in such bad heat and the bugs aren't quite as bad near the coast.  I would be a little concerned about especially mosquitoes by a pond towards the evening but if you plan it earlier you'll catch more of the heat.  I think the heat can be dealt with better than the bugs (I think we'll have the bridesmaids in short dresses and the guys in seersucker or linen suits instead of heavier tuxes).  But it all comes down to the circumstances of your location and how much you want to plan everything else around that location.  We originally wanted a very formal wedding (fiance in a tux, me in a princess style wedding gown) but we fell in love with the venue and would rather change the formality of the wedding than to look for another venue.
