Re: Are you doing wedding favors?

  • We opted to skip them. I thought it was a waste of time and money.

We are doing hot pink rock candy on a wooden stick (wrapped) tucked into each napking with a tag that says "Love is sweet, have a treat". Our napkins are black so it ties in our wedding colors. Totally cheesy, but super cheap and cute!

  • I am doing a candy table too with about 30 assorted apothecary jars.  It will be various shades of the colors of my wedding and I will have favor bags and boxes with our name and date.  I will put it where they picked up their place cards, when they leave.

  • My Mom is paying for pretty much everything, so I am going to foot the bill for favors.  I was going to homemade strawberry jam, but I decided it is too expesive.  FI wants to do M&Ms in our wedding colors which is pretty cheap that is probably what we will do.  I don't care if the guests leave it behind because I love M&Ms.
  • Our favors will be fudge--the Island where we'll marry is known for it. I've never been to a wedding that had favors. But if people travel to our deytination wedding, I think they deserve them.
  • Our favors are going to be tied in with the photobooth we are having for our guest, which is also serving as our guestbook, since it has a scrapbook tied into the deal. So no favor per se. I agree w/ PP, most people don't care about the favors, especially if you're providing them with more food and/or alcohol. I think food and drinks are more important to guests, since a lot of favors are very generic anyway; for instance, I have about 5 heart shaped bottle stoppers I've gotten from the weddings I've been to.

  • Favors are not manditory.  We are just giving away plain wine glasses, because it was less expensive then renting the glasses.
  • Instead of wasting money on favors that no one cares about, my fiance and I are donating a dollar amount in honor of each of our guests ot a local charity for the homeless that we feel passionately about. We'll post a sign on our guestbook table that says so and have some information available for people to peruse.
  • I'm doing frosted votive holders, with tea light candles in them.  They'll be part of the centerpiece, with the tea lights lit.  I decided to do tea lights, so they were easy to take out and guests could use them at their homes.  Votive candles are too hard to clean in the holders!

  • Our venue requires that we do our decor through them so the favors were where I got to use my crafty side. We've made Lemon-Rosemary Jam (Our colors are yellow and green) and we're giving away home made whoopie pies and chilled milk cartons for our send off.
  • My favorite candies are M&Ms and we gave out engraved 4 oz. glasses that included M&Ms in our wedding colors (teal & white) tied in a mesh bag.

[QUOTE]We did koozies, and people LOVED them.  But favors aren't necessary.

Us too; they're cheap and fun.  We got custom ones from 4imprint.com and we also got a deck of cards to stuff in each one since we're getting married in Vegas.

  • We are going to get pine tree saplings from the Arbor Foundation and that's going to be our favor. I wanted to do something that people would use and then think of us when they saw it.  I just happened to be on the Arbor Foundation's website, saw the idea and totally fell in love with it.

We are doing caramel apples with sprinkles or nuts in a cute little fall bag with ribbon.  It's a fall themed wedding.  Hope everyone takes them or we are going to have alot left over!

We're having a photobooth at the reception that prints out pics for the guests to take home and the center panel between the pics has a design that matches our invites with our names and wedding date.  We're considering that our favor.  The booth comes with silly props if guests want to use them and the use is unlimited through the whole reception, so we thought it would be something fun to do and something the guests could take with them.
  • Our wedding color are blue & green, and I noticed that the easter Hershey's kisses packages contained silver, blue, green, and pink.  Right after easter (when everything was 50% off) we went to all the stores and bought up enough bags to put about 5 in each organza bag (200 guests), and then pulled all the pink ones out.  I bought the organza bags off Amazon for $25 for 200.  I think our final total cost on favors was $67, or about $0.34/per guest.

I know that idea won't work for everyone--just depends on what time of year your wedding is & what your colors are, but it definitely saved us big time!

We've also created an online photo site where guests can upload their pictures after the wedding, so I'm planning to print up little instruction cards for how to upload on those pull-apart business card sheets, punch holes & then tie them onto the favor bags, so that guests have the site information with them when they leave.  I already had a bunch of the business card sheets (from back in the day before I had a job that printed them for me), so there was no added cost to us for those.

  • We are doing little boxes with chocolate truffles in them. They will be on the guest book table so people that do not want them do not have to take one. I think favors are a nice gesture.

  • koozies are a huge hit in my area. it must be a regional thing but that is definitely what we are doing and i designed them, so im extra excited! large koozie collections are not uncommon among my friends.. :)

  • We decided it would be a waste of money because our wedding will be rather large so instead we are going to have little cards on the tables that say in lieu of favors we are donating money to a charity - probably the humane society we haven't decided yet
  • We dontated the money we would have spent on favors to a favorite charity instead. As suggested by the wedding coordinator at our venue, we are posting a sign at the front of the reception letting people know that in lieu of wedding favors we donated to this charity, so no one will be expecting them.
  • We're having a photobooth at our wedding, so the pics are our favors!
  • At our wedding we are having chocolate place cards made for each person, it's our escort cards and favors in one! Smile
  • We are doing 8 oz. bottles of sparkling apple cider for each guest. We found the brand we toasted our engagement with at krogers for $5.99 for a 6 pack so it was an excellent deal.
  • I have always been told that wedding favors are a small token that you give to guests to say "thank you for joining us in celebrating our special day". That being said, we are definitely having favors. I realize that favors don't always make it home, so we decided to go with something at least somewhat useful: keychains with a couple maple leaves and a small topaz looking gem imbedded in it. In all fairness though, we have a very small guest list to contend with (less than 50) so the cost is minimal for us (less than $100 with S&H/taxes incl.)
  • Yes, jars of jam, and almost everyone coming to the wedding will appreciate them. Plus you don't have to eat it right away.

I wasn't going to d wedding favors because they were to expensive, but I found if you look at party supply places online (not stores) then you could find several really cute things! Our reception had people of all ages so we passed out little mini bride and groom rubber duckies, wedding bubbles, and some almonds as well. It only costed about a dollar per person (we didn't have a huge guest list either). Anyways look into Orential Trading Co, and places liek that to get a few great steals!

We didn't want to get a headache thinking about favors that people were going to leave behind or deciding what kind of candy we wanted for the candy bar, so we are taking the money we would have spent for the favors and we are donating it to a charity that is significant to us. My fiance and I are very giving, and love to volunteer so it fits our personalities. We are going to have some sort of sign to let the guests know why there aren't favors, in case they wonder :)
  • We're thinking of passing out a personal song mix that represents us... more work choosing the songs, burning CDs, etc, but less expense and wasted food.  We even made personalized CD labels and envelopes, and the cost was about $1.50 per disc all expenses included.  The trick is to leave a basket of them at the guestbook table, and people who want one can have it.  Estimating one CD for every couple, roughly 75 cents per guest.  Very personal, and a friend of mine who did this got a lot of rave comments on how thoughtful and interesting a favor it was.
