• Yeah for some reason, vampires have never scared me. Don't get me wrong, I loved Interview with the Vampire, but it just wasn't scary to me. Demonic possession on the other hand makes me wanna cry. I think it's because a small part of me believes it could happen.
I may have missed it but I don't think anyone mentioned The Grudge or A Huanting in Connecticut, which both scared me. My favorite scary movie of all time has got ot be The Others with Nicole Kidman.

This reminds me of this really awesome SNL sketch. What's scary about Connecticut? Losing your tennis racket in Pottery Barn?

this is one of the worst movies i've ever seen.

i liked the exorcism of emily rose. i liked the desperate feeling of never being able to get away, even in a church. it didn't hurt that tom wilkinson (one of my top 3 actors) was in it.
  • I don't find the Saw movies scary. Just gory and suspenseful.
In Response to Re: Scary Movies : It's either Evil Dead or Evil Dead 2 (I can't remember) Belle, have you seen Cube Zero? It supposedly takes place before Cube. I liked it better than Cube 2.

Interview with a vampire isn't scary, but it's good!!! There's also a movie I can't remember but its with George Clooney and I remember loving it! Something after dark maybe? or something with the sun and the night?? Oy, I can't remember!

  • My best friend's family was huge on horror movies and I was severely messed up by them. So, now I like scary without gore. I like The Others, The Ring (although a little gore), The Exorcist, The Shining...other titles with "The" in it.

  •
What's the awful campy horror movie where the girl gets raped by a tree in the woods?
    Posted by FutureMrsTR
Last House on the Left. The rapist in the remake is in the new show "Raising Hope", and he was so creepy that's all I can think about when he's on TV.

Aw, Georgia, no. She doesn't get raped NEXT TO a tree, she gets raped BY the tree branches. I think someone said Evil Dead and that sounds right to me.

See this was the most disturbing part of that movie for me and DH. We watched the uncut version, and I tell you we had to fast forward.

  • The remake of Texas Chainsaw Massacre wasn't as creepy as the original. I feel like they made Jessica Biel's character way stronger than the girl in the original. They completely cut out the part about her getting put in the bag. Talk about awful.

  • Oh, by a tree. Ew.
  • You know what movie was absolutely terrifying? Gigli.
    image
  • lol @ Gigli.

I LOVED the Cube movies. I own them all. I originally watched them because it looked "lame" and I ended up loving them.

Movies don't really scare me. I started watching them young. Paranormal Activity creeped me out and The Grudge (any of them. I refuse to watch the third one). The Grudge was incredibly lame but it freaked me out. OH! Signs freaked the shiiit out of me. But only the part where he turns over and sees the alien on the shed outside his window.

Strangers would have been good but they copped out on the ending. It scared me right up until then and I remember myself and everyone I watched it with going "..seriously?". Apparently Black Christmas is scary? The original one. I own it but haven't watched it yet. I keep misplacing it...

  • Showgirls. Absolutely.

There was no terror in TCM remake. It was all gore for gore. The original has very little. If you think it's full of it, and you've seen it, go back and rewatch it - it's psychological, created by soundtrack and actions and suggestions. There are also subtle clues all over the movie to the victims, but they're easy to miss. The original is the ONLY way to go with this movie.

And, the scariest thing about Amityville Horror is knowing the backstory. The murders are real. The ghost story was made up by the Lutzes, apparently - some say in conjunction with DeFeo's attorney so he could plead insanity.
BUT - the original movie is DEFINITELY better than the remake.

Part II of Amityville sort of goes back and tells that back story, and it is freaky as hell at the end.

  • IT scared the crap out of me as a kid. Still can't watch it to this day. When a Stranger Calls (original) is also scary in a suspensful way.
I used to watch horror movies as a really small kid, even though they'd freak me out. The worst was The Blob remake. I kept thinking that it was going to come out of the faucet while I was taking a bath. I also was really afraid of Terror Vision, but I watched it again recently, and man, was it stupid.
    Posted by zippityb
HaHa omg I saw that movie when I was 6 and I was sooooooooooo scared to go to the movies after that because I thought the blob was going to get me like in the movie when the blob is on the movie theater ceiling! lol

I think the best and scariest movie series ever made...and they still creep me out know matter how much I watch them...was the HELLRAISER movies! That Pinhead guy is soooooooooooo freaky looking!

  • For a change of pace, I'd recommend Se7en. It's not so much scary as it is creepy, but I tend to prefer the psychological thriller to slashers anyway. Kevin Spacey rocks in that movie.
