Freaking ridiculous

Re: Freaking ridiculous

  • Is she going to defriend and block everyone that doesn't agree with her?

I guess she really only wants people in her life who will enable her choices...
  • Beach - that makes me want to hurl. And I doubt the Mom went straight home and put the kids in the bathtub.
  • I also would still consider sending a vitriolic message to the d-bag friend but it won't do any good.
  • Yeah it makes me sick when I see it.  And I've seen it the past 3 times I was there, and it was different people every time.  Personally I don't think kids under age 12 or so should even be inside a dog park, but I'm not their parent.

Yes, that is the part that I always have to remember when I see something I don't like. I just make a mental note to never do whatever it is I don't like or agree with when we have kids.
  • Sketti - that is scary. What drug is going to be safe for a newborn like that? If the baby is fed and diapered, they should sleep the majority of the time.
  • Holy cow Sketti! I'm scared and sad for that baby.
  • But even infant tylenol isn't suggested for children under something like 6 months!
  • Reading all the stories in this thread made me sad for humanity.

  • Vomit DNB. Barefoot at a dog park. That's just disgusting.

Snippy I'm sorry you're sister's being such an asshat. hopefuly your mom can intervene a little.

We were at a family reunion and I watched my brother pour Dr. Pepper into my 18 month old nephew's bottle. I asked him flat out why he was doing that. His response? It's what he wants right now so we give it to him!!! Um....no. The child wouldn't even know what soda is if he hadn't previously had it before. Lucas texted me while standing there, "Did he just give him Dr. Pepper." Yes hun, yes he did.

I also spent my hour long workout on Thursday trying to avoid a 6 year old that one of the ladies brought with her to the wellness center. No matter how many times this mother told her child to go sit down, she would wander around, play on the equipment, get in my way. If my father had told me to sit down and I didn't listen, he would have made me sit down.

Our trainer has a 6 year old as well and she gets dropped of by his wife usually in the middle of our workouts because she works nights. His little girl sits there and colors, reads, sings to herself. Doesn't.move.at.all. I told him after Thursday that I could hug his little girl for being so good.

Haha, I was thinking it, I just didn't want to say it!
  • haha

I like your new sig pic. You look real purty.
  • Aww, thanks Daff. Where have you been lately?

And Sketti, yeah, that's crossing the line. I'm fairly certain that my future children will not be ANTM material upon arrival, but I'll fawn over them anyway Smile

    Ew, nice bingo.

Jill - I've been around a little more lately. Generally just been pretty busy and haven't been able to come around much.
  • So, what did I wake up to this morning? A friend request from my sister.  Mhm.  I.am.pissed.   I'm absolutely going to send her an email and tell her what's up.

  • Thanks Kim.  I've sent her a super long email just now going through everything and basically saying that no matter what, she should never have let her "friend" say those things to me and basically say that because I haven't been there for every occasion in his life, that I don't matter.  It's already hard to live 4500 miles away from people, I don't need a stranger to tell me that I don't matter/exist in my nephew's life because of that distance.
  • Good for you Snippy!
I can't believe she had the nerve to delete you and then the next day request you back!

  • Frightening. From a nurses perspective that has a degree in science of nursing there's a serious lack of education here. I'm sorry I haven't read all the posters posts but I suggest maybe not discussing it via facebook as they see it as a place to throw personal attacks when they're methods are questioned. Contact your public health nurse and tell her about your concerns and maybe she could visit your sister and her baby. A public health nurse isn't there to judge or "take children away" merely to work with the family on changes that the family agrees they can make that promotes optimal health for the baby. Something needs to happen before that baby is drinking cola from a bottle :S
  • What a b*tch she is. Good for you for standing your grounds on that one. I can't believe she would give her child something that could cause serious health issues.

It's really sad what parents will give their babies. I work in the restuarant industry and see this happen all the time. I've watched parents get pop and smoothies and milkshakes for their kids who are under a year old and then order them fried foods and french fries. They're not even one yet.

The other day I had a lady who arder a kids coke for her baby who was still in his bassenete. The baby didn't even look six months old. It's sickening.
  • I have a question, what about a 2 year old eating Halls? This girl posted on facebook that she "loves when her daughter tells on herself. came out of the kitchen saying mmm candy, so I asked her what she was eating and to spit it out. Crazy kid was eating a Halls!! lol at her finding random stuff!"

I only ask because Halls has medication in it, I just don't know if they're bad for children than young.

I don't know about the medication aspect, since it's such a small amount, but cough drops are definitely a chocking hazard for a child that young.
