The good: Surgery went well and they were able to get all the cancer! The doctors hadn't expected anything really bad, but it is obviously a big relief to everyone that it is gone. Also, the doctor told her she had to quit smoking because....
The bad: In order to get it all, they essentially left a hole in her left nostril. We don't know exactly how big it is, but she will need several reconstructive surgeries over the next few months, including taking cartilage from her ear and skin from her eyelid to repair her nose. She has to quit smoking ASAP because the first surgery is on Tuesday and continuing will greatly lessen the chances of her body accepting the transplants/grafts. Unluckily she can't even use the patch or quitting aids, but she is going to do it.
The fvckery: I've mentioned in the past that SIL uses MIL as her own personal sitter. MIL normally watches SIL's 2 kids every friday. Surgery was yesterday and SIL still expects MIL to watch the kids today. No idea if she is or not, but both DH and I told her to tell SIL to shove it.
