I'm having a flowerless wedding. and I have 1 possibly 2 flower girls.

One will be 4-5 and the other will be 2.

we are using feathers instead.

What could they hold or throw?

Ribbons? I know that sounds weird... But maybe little bows tied up in ribbons?

I went to a beach wedding where the bridesmaids carries beach grass looking sheafs and the flower girl had a small basket with pretty shells.  I asked her mom after and she said that she got the basket, filled it with stryofoam and covered with small fancy shells hot glued on.  She filled in the gaps with mossy looking stuff.  It was pretty.

You could do the same thing whatever the season.  Fall leaves and fall decor pick mini pumpkins, etc for fall, tiny birds , etc with moss for spring...whatever.
My baby girl is a married woman...and now my baby girl HAS a baby girl. Time unfolds in such an amazing way. I've been blessed!

Pinwheels. If it's outdoors, little umbrellas (for rain) or parasols (for sun), purses, prayer books or bibles - if it's a religious ceremony, rosaries for a Catholic ceremony. If they are small girls - teddy bears.

Maybe they could blow bubbles?  I also like the pinwheel idea- those are things that might be fun for kids their age.

If you're using feathers, she could carry a "bouquet" of feathers.

I'd be careful about handing a two year old feathers, some two year olds like to taste everything.  Is the two year old holding the 5 year old's hand when they walk in together? Maybe they don't need to carry anything.

You could have them blow bubbles or do the pinwheels (so cute).

I had a good friend of mine play music and the little "flower" girls just danced down the aisle as they saw fit. It was really adorable and they didn't have to carry anything.

Are you doing a theme? Another friend of mine had the flowergiris carrying teddy bears or some other such thing that was adorable.

Amaranth or Wheat bouquets? They aren't feathers or flowers, but they both feather out when they are in "bloom". May not work with your colors or theme, but it would be different. Why not purses? Or whomever is doing your feather arrangements-see if they could make small buttoneire like feather arrangements that the girls can give to people sitting on the aisle. A friend of mine had his flower girls hand daisies to everyone on the aisle, instead of throwing petals (I thought that was unique and very sweet tribute to his gma who had recently passed and grew exotic daisies).
