Wedding Invitations & Paper

Cost per invite?

We're having a small (50 people) wedding and I'm not sure about the cost of invitations.  Any ideas?  We're having a summer wedding.  Our colours are blue, brown and tan.

Invitations can have a lot of little pieces.

For me, I bought a kit on clearance.

The cost of each piece in the kit was $0.02.

    So, 50 outer envelopes = $1.00
    50 invitations = $1.00
    50 response cards = $1.00
    50 response envelopes = $1.00
    50 reception cards = $1.00
    50 welcome dinner cards = $1.00
    50 inner envelopes = $4.19
50 sheets of paper to use as envelope liner = $14.70

For me, each invite cost $0.50 before mailing.

  • Invitations can vary wildly in prices.  The PP got a bargain.....you could also find invitations at the high end and spend hundreds of dollars.  It all depends on taste and budget.

I ordered imitations, with reply cards, from Wal-Mart for $19.97 + tax. That included 50 of each.it depends on what you want, and what you are willing to pay. ETA: I actually ordered invitations, NOT imitations, just so you know!

Those are great prices! Where did you find the kit?
  • I ordered mine through David's Bridal ended up costing me $2.45 before mailing.  It could have been a lot cheaper, but my FI insisted on using multiple ink colors which upped the price a bit.
  • There Are huge differences in the prices of invitations. HUGE. Look at things you like and figure out what's affordable for you, there's no magic price for invitations. Some cost a dollar each, some can be 50 each. It really depends.
  • The simplier you keep it & the few inserts, the less expensive it will be. Doing it yourself printing is also keeper. One thing is go retangular over square. The post office adds a surcharge to square.
  • Go to michaels and buy a kit! Go online first and print off their 40% coupon. Normally about $40 for a 50 invite kit. You can save some money. I m a DIY kinda person so im making all my invites because i want them unique!
