A confession

I can't read long posts anymore (unless they're by a reg I care about).  I just can't do it.

I'll click on a thread, see the billions of lines of text and my eyes glaze over and I exit out as quietly as I entered.

For the record, I'm interested in some of the turmoil, like your (the collective your) fights with FILs, your FI, your florist, friends, etc.  Just not if it contains more than about 2 spaced-out paragraphs worth of text.

Does anyone else feel like this or am I just an asss.

BTW, I ordered my STDs today (happy about that) :)

Re: A confession

  • I have days like that.  I also have days where I can't read the same cookie cutter questions by random people, or days when I just don't care about people having drama, needing vibes, etc, even if they're a reg I care about.  So if you're an ass, I'm right there with ya.  Except worse.
  • I'm really bad about skimming.  I read long posts like this: "Title, first sentence of first paragraph, word in the middle of paragraph, word here, word there, question".

I miss a lot of info I'm pretty sure.

  • I go through cycles, depending on how shitty my own life is at the moment. Maybe that makes me an ass, too, but I can live with that.

    Asses of TK, unite!
  • Walls of text turn me off too. Some I read, some I don't. I don't think there's any rhyme or reason to it, it just depends on how I'm feeling.

I also have a confession: I've done more knotting at work than working at work this week.

  • No I am with you. There are some days where I can barely stand half the posts. And one girl on one of my other boards, I don't know why I even open them, they always make me want to stab myself with rusty scissors.

Can we get tee shirts?  Cause I can't read that crap either.  And when there are 3posts within a couple hours of each other with the exact.same.question (not spin off posts) I don't see why people can't look at responses from the other posts.  Is it because they believe their situation is so different?

  • I do this too.  I never read long responses either.  I always think I'm missing out on so much.

  • I vote for tee-shirts too!  I'm with Kiki - I'll skim and then realize that NOT really what the OP was asking.  Sometimes I'll back and read and sometimes not.

Sara -- where is this damn snow???? Stop teasing me Mother Nature.

And betrothed, I'm disgusted with most of the comments that you have posted. I don't think I've ever read such judgmental comments in my life. I'm so lucky that the girls I speak to on theknot are nothing like you...I would've never come on here for ADVICE if I would've encountered a big a bitch as you. I genuinely feel awful for your children or your future children, and I think it would be irresponsible of YOU not to invest in their future therapy sessions starting now. Because trust me when I tell you honey, they're gonna need it. ~jcaruncho2010

  • I find this ironic because we were commenting for a while about how dead the board was, and "when are the christmas newbs going to arrive", and we have gotten both and arent happy with that.

The newbs suck but oh do they provide amusement and help pass the time in their ignorance. I dont mind things right now at all.
  • Capri, I think it stalled over Brie, Fische, Anna, and I.....

Yeah well, I hoping to get hit tonight... AND HARD.  I don't want to go to work tomorrow.
  • Nebb- I'm glad it's busier, too.  But I do hate the same question getting asked 20 times IN A ROW.

  • In journalism school, we learned that newspapers and magazines basically work on the assumption that this is how people read. Title, first paragraph/sentence, pictures, captions. That's about what you can hope for unless it's really good.

  • Sometimes when I see a really annoying (to me) question, I read it just to give a mean answer. Wall of text and all. I am an ass too.
  • Yeah Nebb, I like that the board is a lot more active. The only thing I truly got sick of was the mod powers posts. Gag. I can deal with the repeat questions posts becaue I can usually tell by the title if it's a repeat question and I simply don't read it.

  • I dont mind the repetativeness - it gives the opportunity to be snarky to the person for being a dipshit and not reading. Silver lining people, silver lining!!!
  • Nebb. You're the bestest.

I have those kind of days too.  I think it's normal just being here day after day.
