DJ recommendations

Hey girls! I'm interested in hearing your DJ recommendations. We are having a casual reception at Vintner Grill from 7-11pm and we are trying to decide if we should hire a DJ or just use an ipod dock. If you didn't use a DJ and you were at a venue without a sound system how did you play your music? I'm just concerned about it not being loud enough. Thanks!

We are having our reception at FireFly and we were totally going to use an iPod deck to cut costs. But a friend of mine made a good point: How will you timeline the reception? Like, the cake cutting, father/daughter - mother/son dances, etc. We just booked JEM Events Services. We are meeting with 3 dj's on March 3rd. The lady who helped us said she always has her brides meet with at least 3 so you aren't stuck with "that dj" who may not mesh too well with what you want at your reception. I know they were running a special this month if you book by the end of the month. I wish I had more info to give you - like what they sound like - but I can let you know after March 3rd if you'd like.

We're using Knight Sounds because they are the preferred vendor at Mandalay Bay.  Our wedding coordinator does all of it, so I have yet to have contact with them.  Its 1200 for 5 hours and you can give them a very extensive playlist and they'll download whatever you want.
