  • Yes, we use it for the wood floors.  I'll have to look at it when I get home b/c I can't remember anything about it.  I have a love/hate relationship w/it.  It works really well, except on something that is bigger than it's floor clearance.  But it picks up pet hair like a dream.

We have an older version of this.  I lost the cord though andcan't find a replacement.  It was good while it lasted.
  • I have a small Dyson handheld that makes me want to get one of these when I have the money:

(This is the one I have:  http://www.dyson.com/vacuums/handhelds/dc34/dc34.aspx Great for small pickups and on the stairs, etc., but obviously not practical for whole room cleaning.)

    YES!

I love my Shark Lift-Away Pro. There's another model up from the one I have that might be worthwhile depending on your needs. Still, that bad boy is light and maneuverable and works just as well as a dyson (per the online reviews, and looking at the suction I have no reason to doubt them).

(Best price is almost definitely at BBB with a 20% coupon.)

I also have a little eureka stick vac that was $15 at Target or walmart or something. It is pretty good for dry spills on hardwood or tile, but I find I barely use it now that I have the shark.

we have an old dirt-devil stick I love that was suepr cheap 10 years ago.
  • Do not buy this:

Not even for $8 on Black Friday.  I used to love mine.  Until it broke.  I've been through 3 now.

I want a steam and sweep.
  • we have a swiffer vaccum - not worth it since the battery charge doesn't even make it through our whole downstairs.

I have the DC44 and it's awesome on hardwoods/tile, dusting the baseboards, etc.  It's ok on carpet, especially if you keep up with it regularly.  If you have alot of carpet in your house, I don't think it would be the best option (my house is all hardwoods/tile with one measly area rug).  I can usually zip around the whole house for a quick cleanup before the battery runs out.
