How Long is too long to wait for your wedding video

Hi All -

I got married back in October (Oct.2nd to be exact) in Austin Texas and still have not received my wedding video. While I know these take time, I was told 190 days and it's now been over a month past that. Has anyone elsehad a simiar experience? My videographer was pretty pricey and has a great reputaton, but I am getting antsy. Advice?

    Some people get a good reputation from their work, not their professionalism. I would definitely be getting in touch w/ them to see what the hold up was. Did they have a large event they just finished covering? Vacation time they forgot to account for? Just touch base and see what the timeline looks like for you to receive it. My sister, friends, etc have all received their videos within 3 months of the ceremony.

    My videographer was pretty fast.  We had a proof version of our DVD within 6 weeks. Once we looked it over and had changes made we had our final version about a month after that. Our total time was about 10 weeks following our event.

    As pp mentioned there can be a lot of factors which may cause a delay in the final product. I also agree to try call the vendor and try to get a date set for delivery of your product. Don't fret thought, I'm sure they will come through with a great video for you!

    Email them. Often. As soon as they are over their quote of when it will be done- email/call AGAIN. The one thing I have figured out about photographers/videographers is that, though talented at what they do, they are often horrible business-savvy people. It's not their fault (speaking as a creative person myself), they are creative and often need a little "pushing" to stay motivated. Become the bride that they just want out of their hair and you'll have your video exactly the way you want it before you know it.

    It really depends on the amount of footage and your package selection. Ask for an update on its progress.
