Wedding Invitations & Paper

Two envelopes?

If I am having a somewhat "fun" but classy invitation and I plan to have an RSVP postcard and a directions/info card, do I need to have an inner and outer envelope? Is it common to not have an inner envelope?

Re: Two envelopes?

  • As long as you're not having a very formal reception, it's fine to skip the inner envelope.   Just make sure you have enough space on the outer to be specific with those you're inviting.  Remember that 'and family' has no place on a wedding invitation.
  • Good tip about the "and family" thing. I will make sure to list all names on my envelopes, for sure. I do think I will skip the inner envelope, though.
