April 2012 Weddings

invitation update *more ranting*

I posted a few days ago that we were getting concerned that the stationer hadn't gotten back to us regarding the invitations.  Fiance finally called them yesterday in follow up to my e-mail from Wednesday, and lo and behold, they sent the second draft of the proofs today.

Fiance was just as aggravated as he has been every step of the way, that they want to communicate via e-mail but apparently didn't catch all the changes we asked for and they still haven't priced everything out for us.  He says it is not so, but I think he's holding it against me that I wanted to shop around at other stationers I thought would do something nicer, and I didn't want to go straight to his choice of printer.  He makes snippy comments instead of being able to get through a full reasonable conversation about the invitations.  However, he is being particular and doesn't want to just let me handle it.  I offered to scrap everything (especially when we haven't given them any money yet) and admit my mistake and go to the printer he initially suggested.  Or better yet, that I would purchase an invitation kit and we would print them ourselves so we didn't have to deal with any vendors at all for our invitations.  However, he says he wants these invitations.  Apparently he does not understand that if he does want these invitations, he needs to stop complaining and getting overly aggravated every step of the way.

If he makes even ONE MORE snippy comment I am taking it upon myself to fire the stationer and get the self-print invitations.

Perhaps fiance should not have been dealing with all of this at all while LSU isn't playing well...  Unfortunately he is the type to beat his head against a brick wall rather than stepping back when he gets aggravated, a character trait which disturbs me to no end.  Rant over and thanks for listening!

EDIT:  On a more positive note, I have gotten positive feedback even from fiance about my outside the box idea to have the Hawaiian word "mahalo" on our thank you notes instead of the English "thank you."  And LSU just scored off of a fumble so they finally have a lead.
Whoever said it was supposed to be happily ever after is a big fat liar.

  • I'm sorry about the continued frustrations :( Sounds like the silver lining here is that your fiance is really involved and that's great! Also your edit to the post made me smile, glad to hear LSU is trying to make things better!

  • Thanks!  I wanted him to help pick out the colors and style and everything, but he is nit finicking every little detail.  On one hand I understand he wants things to be just so, but I really wish he wouldn't get so frustrated and would be a little more patient trying to communicate his ideas to the stationer.  He did feel a little bit better after he tinkered around in Microsoft Paint with a couple of the graphics and we figure if he could do it the graphic designer at the stationer could do it even better.

And yes we are happy about LSU :-)  Although we had been hoping Oklahoma State would jump Bama in the polls so we could avoid the rematch in the BCS championship...oh well.  May the best team win!
