Wedding Invitations & Paper

nickname or real name on invitations?

when i was little, my grandmother started to call me by "molly", however, my real name is "melissa". several of the friends i have made over the years who will be invited to the wedding have always known me as "molly".

what do i put on the Save The Dates and Invitations??? nickname or real name? and what will the officiant announce me as? legally, i will be "melissa", but now that i've lived with that name for so long, its almost as if people will be confused by me going as "melissa" now...

  • Melissa "Molly" Rodriguez

You should probably make a new account that doesn't refer to your full name.  Internet Safety 101.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. • Eek, this is a toughie.  I guess I'd do preference....legally my maiden last name was hyphenated but I used to only go by one of the two names (ie Smith-Johnson and I went by Johson).  I put Johnson on my invite and program...but obviously used Smith-Johnson when I signed the documentation
  • I'd always do legal name. But I'm formal like that. :)

  • My FI has the same situation. He is a jr so he has always gone by his middle name (actually the common nickname for his middle name to make things more confusing) to differentiate him from his dad. We are using a mix of names. The formal invitation and any mention of him in the ceremony will use his legal first name. For STDs, wedding website, registries, and everything else we are using his middle/nickname.
  • My name is Jessica.. but I go by Jessie. That is what everyone knows me as. Even my entire family calls me Jessie. So I put Jessie on the invite and the officiant will refer to me as Jessie.

I told fiance if i put Jessica on the invite people won't know who you are marrying LOL

  • I'm having the same problem. My real name is Allison but I go by Aleigh and I also accept Allie. I think I'll just put Allison on the invitations and have the officiant call me Aleigh.

Molly, your sig picture is freaking adorable!
  • I'm in the same boat....I've been called by my nickname since I can remember. On my STD I put my nickname, but on the invites and whatnot I'm putting my full name.
