Photographer/Videographer recommendations

Hello,

My name is Megan and we are getting married on October 29, 2010 at the Village Inn in Narragansett. I just wanted to get everyone's recommendations for photographers/videographers on a budget. We want nice pictures but I don't want to spend a ton.

What have you heard about Main Event (they do all 3 services) or Lefebvre Photo or Eloquent Images?

Also have you heard anything about Music Machine for DJ service?

I don't have any feedback on the vendors you mentioned, but we used David Bibeault for photo & Mike Picard for video. We were very happy with both decisions!

We are also using David Bibeault for our photog and are using John from WeddingStories for our video. You may want to look into Gabrielle Marks as well? Also, Mandy Mayberry has some amazing shots. We were on a budget as well and we feel comfortable with our choices!

mine are jenn leatherwood and david bettencourt. jenn has smaller packages and her work is exceptional - you should inquire just in case. also, we've chosen bettencourt's $1600 package. it's listed on his site: "Cool & Classic"

john from wedding stories is also really great!

I am using Nicole Resendes for my video. She doesn't have a website but her email is ncresendes@yahoo.com. She will send you a sample video. I was very impressed and her rates are very reasonable (ie packages under $1K). The girls on the Knot here led me to Nicole. I am also using Erick Brown Photography. He doesn't get mentioned here. I never heard of Lefebvre before but Main Event Weddings gets positive reviews on this board. They pretty much do it all.
Other videographers you might want to consider

As for photographers, not sure what your budget is or your style of photography but I love Lisa Rigby (MA), Val Mccormick (CT), Joshua Behan (R.I), Relive Photography (MA) and Avenna Studio (MA). All are worth checking out and offer nice range of packages. They are fine art/photojournalist.

I am using David Bibeault with James Murphy Photography. Both great choices. I know James is starting out, but I have all the confidence in the world with him. He shot some great beach e-pics of us in Narragansett.

We worked with Curtiss from Eloquent Images for our fall engagement photo shoot. He was awesome, very creative, very fun and very professional. His work was awesome!

We're using Cregg Annarino for photography (www.itakeyourphotos.com) and Mike Pickard for Videography. I'm very excited about both vendors! Whether or not they (or any vendor for that matter) will fit in your budget will depend on what kind of coverage/package you're looking for.

Our photographer is Melissa Robotti but we're having our e-pics done by Molly Anne Photos. She's fairly new to the scene but I love her work and she is super reasonable. http://www.mollyannesphotos.blogspot.com/

I didn't use a videographer but highly recommend my photographer Krysztyna Caldarone (www.kharberphoto.com)
Her work is gorgeous and she has a personality to match. Her packages can fit any budget:)

We're using Zenobia for our photography. They have a big range of packages on their site to fit many budgets. i LOVE LOVE their style! i also met with melissa robbotti and liked her too; she also had reasonable packages.

we havent booked our videographer yet but are looking at david b who was mentioned on this board and still shopping around.

The 2nd and 3rd photo you mentioned send me emails ALL THE TIME. Annoying.

We used Melissa Robotti for photos and Nicole Resendes for video. We also had an October wedding and got our pics just before Christmas. (I'm just saying, if you want a photo for your Christmas card....it's a good question to ask in your meetings) We aren't getting our video until March, which I am ok with. I want to add photo stills into the video so that's a bit more work.

Anyway, both Melissa and Nicole were FABULOUS the day of. Really kept me calm and focused. Fun girls.

We spent under $3K for both.

Main Event I did check them out and they do a documentary type of video. Wasnt much music and they didnt have very contemporary editing, so we also w/John from wedding stories.
The original music machine is who I am using for dj as well. They dj'ed my brothers wedding- good price too.

We used Zenobia Photography and Wedding Stories for Videography and have nothing but amazing things to say about both of them! They went above and beyond all of my expectations!

We used Melissa Robotti for photography and Wedding Stories for video

I love our pictures. she has so many slideshows and snippets up on her blog right now. I thought her prices were extremely reasonable especially now that we have the final product.

we also worked well with john. we went all out and did a top pkg with interviews etc...he also has a snippet on his blog of one of the montage songs he did in our video

now that our wedding is over and done with...I'm so glad we researched, picked photog and video that we felt comfortable with. These two vendors provided us with the things we remember our day by and I'm just soooo happy with went with Melissa and John.

We are using Jennifer Leatherwood and I cannot recommend her enough. We recently had our engagement pictures done and I cannot stop looking at them. She may be more than you want to spend, but it's money well spent for sure!

FYI Do NOT hire Kristin Spencer as your photographer !!!

Supposed to be the "Shining Star" of Newport, RI +++++ NOT

We had nothing but problems with her. It took 10 weeks to see any photos. She never returned any of my (mother of the bride) phone calls or e-mails AND she was abnormally expensive. The photos were not good quality and were seemingly done by an amateur.
Totally unprofessional.

Really? I've never read or heard a negative review about Kristin Spencer. I'm sorry you had a bad experience but her work speaks for itself. She does amazing work.

Hi,
I haven't posted in awhile but I wanted to give my review of MainEvent since you didn't get one. I used them for all 3 services. I Loved the DJ...he did a great job but the photographer and videographer were amatuers. They have you fill out your whole videographer/photo list online before the wedding (what pictures you want with who, etc.) The photographer did not bring that sheet with him and the last thing I was thinking about was who I had taken pictures with already. I specifically asked on that sheet for the videographer to get some footage of cocktail hour..but never got any and I missed the whole hour since the picture taking was so unorganized and took too long. They also didn't take any pictures of guests at their tables (not all the guests get on the dance floor).
They do get good reviews but be sure you have the owners photograph your day.

I'm using Zenobia Studios www.zenobia-studios.com and John www.weddingstoriesri.com

Jen at Zenobia is incredibly attentive - she even has spent all kids of time emailing with me about bridesmaid colors and favors because she just really loves weddings. Her work is so beautiful and they have something for every budget because there are two photogs at the studio.

John is so creative and enthousiastic we love him so far
