Shower give from Mother to Bride

What gift do most Mothers' of the Bride give their daughters for their Bridal shower?

I felt that my mother should not have given me anything for my shower other than her love and presence because she is paying for the wedding.  However, she got me and FI bathing suits, sunscreen, and a great beach bag (we're going on a cruise for our honeymoon).
    Hope this helps.

My mom got my sister a tent.  The shower was thrown by her MIL who is not into camping and neither were most of the guests, so it was something that she wanted but was not likely to get from other people.

I bought my daughter a gift from her registry...just like everyone else did  :)
My baby girl is a married woman...and now my baby girl HAS a baby girl. Time unfolds in such an amazing way. I've been blessed!

I bought my daughter a Kitchen Aide mixer.

I also bought her a Coach bag (during a mega sale!) and filled it with anything and everything that she could possibly need during an emergency on her wedding day. (safety pins, shout wipes, aspirin, hand cream, snack foods, etc.)  She loved that gift!

I bought my daughter a couple things from her registry. She has another shower coming up and I've bought some place settings of her casual dishes.I happen to work at Macy's and can take advantage of sales and my discount so that helps a lot.

My mom gave me an Irish linen tablecloth and napkins.  It's her traditional gift that she gives to women in the family.  I felt like I had "arrived" when that was what I received.

Thanks morainemom!  I love it!  And since I watched her take care of her Irish linens as a child, it's something I enjoy now.  :-)

banana - I can only imagine how much pride you have using the linens.
That is such a nice tradition to hand down through the generations.

I didn't want my mom to give me anything.  She ended up giving me our pans/pots.  It was way too much but she insisted.

My mom threw our shower with my MOH, and did most of the cooking, organizing, etc. That would have been gift enough, but she also got us our toasting flutes.
