Multiple Registries?

Is it ok to register at more than one store? We're planning for 200+ guests at our wedding in February 2011, and we'll be starting out with virtually no household items. We currently have 2 registries started, but I'm wondering if one more would be excessive or acceptable?

1-3 registries is the norm. More than 3 has a tendency to look gift grabby even if each registry is on the small side.

I think the two that you have will be fine. I just wouldnt' do more than 3.

I have two registries at well-known Dept stores and then one registry at a locally-owned gift shop in my hometown.

we have 3 chain stores and one store for jewish items, BBB is the largest though, the rest have less than 20 things on them, one only has 5

We have 2, BBB and Macy's. We registered for our china, bath and kitchen stuff at Macy', and did silverware, crystal, bed, and gadgets at BBB.

We have 3...Bed Bath and Beyond, Belk and Crate and Barrel.

We have people coming from all over so we wanted a variety so that people could go to what they have in their local area.

I'm having the same problem mainly because we're getting married in the city where we live and both of our families live about 2-3 hours away from us in different towns that have very different stores. I found a website called wishpot.com where you can add any item on any website to one online registry list.

We have 3...BBB, Kohls, and Sears. Household items are at BBB and Kohls, and then we did tools and yard stuff at Sears.

I think 1-3 is fine and depending on where your guests live it is actually considerate to offer a variety so that they have a store nearby. I'd also make sure that at least one of them is online for those that prefer to shop online.

Hmm this is a tricky question. I think it's fine but personally I didn't feel comfortable having three stores on my registry information when guests asked so we opened one at myregistry.com since it's a universal wish registry and we were able to upload one of our registries (Williams Sonoma) right onto it (as well as open a honeymoon fund). I thnk since you have a larger guestlist and they are all on different parts of the vountry, that you would be fine adding a third one. I have three, simply because I wanted all my guests to have two options, and this was the best way I could do it. We are having a rather big wedding, and I come from a very "gifty" area, I would highly suggest more options if you also come from a "gifty" circle.

( I personally would stay away from an online only registry except in international travel/guests because a lot of people want to physically pick out a gift and not have to worry about shipping and getting it in time, especially for showers.)
