Help me decide on a veil!

I wrote a related post on the attire board which helped me narrow it down to a birdcage veil made from netting instead of tulle, but I'm still torn between the bridcage veil and a fingertip length sparkly edged veil.  I made a birdcage veil (which has crystals on the edge as well) last night and although I like it, I am not sure if it's what I really want.  I will only be wearing the veil during the ceremony.

This has been the main thing on my mind since I got my dress on Sunday and I'm the type to overthink and obsess on little things until I have it figured out.  I even had a hard time falling asleep last night because I was thinking about it so much!

How did you decide on what type of veil to wear?

Any advice is appreciated and the pic below is how I plan to wear my hair and pictures of my dress are in my siggy (obviously! :D)

Re: Help me decide on a veil!

  • I'm not wearing anything so I am really no help to you! That being said, I knew right away with my dress and my head shape that I was not going to look good in anything. So I just have a seed pearl comb to wear.

  • I'm also not wearing a veil, but have a bling-y hair comb to wear.

In your case, with the hairstyle you're doing, I'd pick the birdcage veil. I feel that with a fingertip veil and your hair pulled around one shoulder it would look a bit "off balance" if you KWIM.

  • I don't know, I think your dress might need something a little longer and more dramatic than a birdcage veil.  I would go with a fingertip :)

  • When I saw your dress in the siggy I thought it would look amazing with a birdcage veil. I think the fingertip one might be too much and take away from the dress and hair.

  • when you first posted about your dress, I immediately thought birdcage veil...and now with that hairstyle, definitely birdcage! maybe you can find one with a little sparkle to match your dress. good luck!

  • I'm doing a fingertip sparkly veil. But with that dress and hairstyle combo, I think a birdcage would be perfect :)

  • I actually think no veil would be better.  Definately have some kind of pretty headpiece or facinator though. The dress is dramatic on its own and you don't want to detract from that.  The hairstyle you've chosen, while very pretty, wouldn't look right with any kind of veil IMO.  If you're set on having a veil though, go with the birdcage.

  • I personally am not a fan of birdcage veils so I say go for the fingertip veil.  Whichever one you choose, I think both will look fine with your hairstyle and dress....I'm just partial to non-birdcage veils.  :)  You should go with whatever you feel most comfortable in and feel the best in.

  • I've personally never been a fan of birdcage veils so my vote would be for a fingertip length one.  I'm going with a cathedral length one for mine.

<div>Same thing here!  Although, with your hairstyle a birdcage could work.  I'm just not a huge fan of them.</div>

  • I swear i posted this yesterday but it's not showing.

I actually think you should go no veil.  The dress is nice and dramatic on its own and you don't want to detract from that.  IMO, the hairstyle you've chosen is very pretty but doesn't lend itself well to a veil of any style.  If you absolutely want a veil though, go with the birdcage.

  • Thanks for all the suggestions and advice.  I really want to wear a veil, so I'm gonna go with the birdcage veil.  I think it will be more comfortable, lightweight, go well with my hairstyle and dress, and since I already made it, much much less expensive :)  I just have to add a few more crystals to it and it'll be perfect!

I'm hoping to do my hair trail within the next month or so and I'll make the final decision then.

    Thanks again!  Y'all rock!

  • When I saw the dress on you the other day, I easily saw a bircage. I dont think you would want to lose any of the dress or your hair. I am not a huge fan of them, but I know you could totally pull it off, it will look gorgeous!!
