Irrational irritations

Can we do one of these?  I dunno if we had one recently but I have some things I'd like to bitch about.

My mom just called and told me she spent all this time on Friday hand washing her car and now she's upset because a couple days later the car is full of dust and bug guts.  Um, hello?  It's springtime and you live on a farm.  DUH.  It's still annoying when you get the car machine washed and that happens but you know it's gonna happen.  She never hand washes her car so I have no idea why she'd do that in the first place especially if all that effort would go to hell after a couple of days anyway.

And here is a completely irrational irritation - when I'm at a restaraunt and I'm drinking water and the waitress comes around with a pitcher of water and wants to refill my glass, I get instantly pissed that she wants to fill up the glass when I've only drank maybe 25% of the water.  Omg.  I have all this water left, I'm not out of water, I don't need more water.  And I only drink one glass of water with lunch anyway, if you keep filling up my glass, I'm not going to be able to drink it all and then it just gets wasted.  Whenever they come around I always take my glass and guard it, like.... NO.  I have all the water I need.

See?  Completely irrational.

Re: Irrational irritations

  • I'm irrationally irritated (and this is very irrational) that one of my Bridesmaids didn't come to my shower this weekend because her H's grandparents were coming into town that night and she didn't want to be away from the house that day.  I just didn't understand the logic.

I'm also irrationally irritated that the summer job FI typically works talked to him about working this summer and when he said he wanted to again they hired someone else instead.  Top that off with him getting his hours cut at this other job and I'm worried.

They league he plays for redid the schedules for his football games.  We moved our wedding once to accomadate a game and now that they have changed it again he is no longer going to have a bye week on the weekend of the wedding so he will miss a game.  The two bye weeks they have this summer are the two right before our weekend. It's annoying.

  • I'm the opposite about water, AATB.  If my glass isn't full, don't ask me if I want more, just fill it up.  But I drink closer to six glasses of water at lunch, so there's that.

Mine is that I get irrationally irritated when posters assume everyone else here is also actively planning a wedding.
  • I'm that way too. I don't drink much and one glass is more than enough for me. But what bugs me even more is when they bring you an entirely new, full glass and set it down next to your half-full one. Then I have to deal with 2 glasses and I feel guilty leaving one full glass. Or they take away my half-full glass, which makes no sense. Maybe I LIKE slightly watered down beverages.

OH FUCKING HELL.  I hate that.  And I purposely leave the full glass just sitting there, full.

When I was serving I always asked if the customer wanted a refill.  They didn't always want a refill.

[QUOTE]Oh, I also get irritated when I order tea and it comes with lemon without me asking or being asked if I want it.  I do not, in fact, want lemon in my iced tea.  Blech.  Along the same lines, it drives me nuts when they put a dill pickle right next to my sandwich and a corner of my sandwich gets soaked with pickle juice.  I hate it when food touches each other.

I get irritated when I ask for a lemon with my water and then they bring it without one.  Or when they don't leave a straw.  I do not like drinking from a cup without a straw.

I cannot stand when the previous toast maker leaves crumbs in the tub of margarine.  I know it's just crumbs and not chewed-up toast, but it reminds me of floaties left behind in a beverage and it's gross.  Leave that tub as clean as you found it, please.

  • I don't get irritated but I always get thrown off when they want to fill up a mostly full drink, like, who are you talking to now?

I am irrationally annoyed at how much my granola cost at the store. I chose one flavor and H chose another flavor, and it turns out my flavor was $1 more per pound. AND I found out I don't even like granola. WTF.
  • My pet peeve is when people ahead of me walk wayy slow, like at the LRT station...omg I just want to whack em one lol

  • See now we base our tips at least partially in how frequently our water glasses get filled. It's rare that they'd find ours only 25% down though as we both drink a lot of water even if we have another beverage.

I am rationally irritated that the soup I got for lunch is so bad. I knew it wouldn't be as good as my borscht by why the heck is it sweet?

[QUOTE]I also get irritated when other people are rude to their servers.  My H was kind of being a diick when we were out last week and I called him on it.  I waited tables too many years to be a diick to servers for no goddamn good reason.

My ex was always an ass to servers too, lol.  And he would NEVER tip.  Drove me apeshit because I was a server too and I always complained to him about getting bad tips or getting stiffed once in a while.  He knew how little I got paid by the hour but still wouldn't tip.  I'd always leave extra money for a tip because I was so embarrassed.

I'm also irrationally irritated that FreeSpirit666 has 666 in her SN.

  • Oh I hate when people are rude to servers. I cant even got out with MIL without wanting to smackher. I might even try and use laundry to get out of dinner tonight with her. Hmm good idea..
  • I get irrationally irritated when H gets to sleep in longer than me. He works 2PM to 10PM so obviously he has the luxury of sleeping past 5:30, but I just get so fired up sometimes thinking of all the things he could be doing instead of sleeping. Ha.

I am sometimes that jerk customer who will originally say no, and then change my mind and want a refill 10 minutes later.  I hate doing that.

  • I get irrationally annoyed when people stay at restaurants for hours when they see a huge line of people waiting for tables.
  • Oh, and I don't get why people will let their kids get shiit everywhere on the table and floor and make zero attempt to try and help the server out.  I mean, I don't expect them to get on their hands on the floor cleaning up stuff, but you can't even stack the plates?  I just always do that.

I always over-tip, since once upon a time I worked for $2.01 an hour plus tips.  A server has to be absolutely, deliberately horrendous to get less than 20% from me.

YES! Not to mention it hurts the server because they don't have the chance to make additional money in the time you're just sitting there.

  • Oh and another one - this weekend we spent time at my SIL and BIL's house and the whole in-law family was in town to visit.  My in-laws always crack open beers kinda early and since I am pretty much a lightweight I don't like to start drinking when they start, and normally that is fine, but when I finally poured myself a glass of wine with dinner my SIL was like "Oh, AATB is finally drinking... guess there won't be an 'announcement' today!"  WTF.  Just because I'm not drinking at 3pm does not fucking mean I'm pregnant!?  LAY OFF.

    That infuriates me.

H goes to video game conventions, and there's one in Boston in a convention center that has a Cheesecake Factory.  I was friends with a waiter there, and he said that the weekend of the convention, everyone bickered over having to work, because convention attendees would either leave a few cents as a tip, or "dine and dash."  That is disgusting.

Exactly, jcb.  Or simply because I have to wait a little while for my food.  The kitchen being backed up isn't the server's fault - if I see they're just busy, but trying hard, I'm not going to hold that against them.  I've been there.

  • I get annoyed when I ask for lemon water and they give me a lemon slice instead of a wedge.  The slices are so much harder to squeeze into the water!

I'm irrationally irritated that I haven't been losing much weight.  Its irrational because I know I haven't been working out as much as I should.

  • I try to tip if FI and I order several things and we have cash.  I just can't justify giving them $1.00 for walking out the door and handing me a cherry limeade that cost less than $1.00. I mean, they get paid typical minimum wage. IDK. I'm conflicted on that.   I try to go through the DT if there is one and I get something small.

  • Until recently, my mother would ask me if I was pregnant every time she saw me.  I hated it.

My irrational irritation is with my MIL.  H hasn't seen her in a month and called her last week to ask if he could take her out for Mothers' Day.  She declined, saying she wanted to just stay in alone and veg.  We called her last night to wish her a happy Mothers' Day, and she told us that she spent the day with his two brothers over at older BIL's apartment.  H didn't say anything to me about it, but it really upset me.  He really wanted to see her and was willing to drive the two hours up and back to spend the day with her.  It would have been really nice if he had gone up and the four of them had been able to spend the day together.  Instead, he was excluded.  I hate that.  I realize she has the right to spend Mothers' Day however she wants but that really made me upset.

  • It would be so irresponsible for Ben and I to get pregnant now.  We should be able to fit a baby into our townhouse, but it would be quite the squeeze, and Ben needs a new job that pays better before we can start a family.  We'd be up shiit creek if I got pregnant now.  Plus I just really want a house first.  That's the next thing on our list.  It's just our goal to not be renting when we have kids.

And yeah, I've never really been one to drink in the day because I don't want to be shiitfaced before dinner, lol.  I don't really get how all of a sudden now, my non-drinking during the day = PREGLY.
