insurance on the engagement ring

Anyone have insurance on their ring? Thoughts/Advice?
I was thinking of going with jewelersmutual.com. Does anyone know anything about this site?

I don't have insurance on my ring. If the site doens't work out, I think you can add a rider on to your homeowners or maybe renters insurance.

We added a rider to our homeowners.

My FI had the ring added to his homeowner's insurance before he gave it to me.  We both own houses, but since we'll be selling mine and moving into his, it's on that policy.

We added it to our renters insurance, actually we just got renters insurance so we could put the ring on it. Definitely do it, it will give you both a piece of mind

Yes, insure it.  Ours is insured through Chubb, b/c they cover full replacement value of the ring (not just their estimated cost of an "equivalent" ring).  They offered better pricing and value than our renter's insurance did when we inquired about adding a rider.

We have mine on renters, and like dovesweet we got the renters just for that purpose. I called the car insurance company and when I added the renters, there was a discount so even after adding the ring it's only an extra 10 dollars a month.

You should definitely have insurance on your e-ring if it is valuable.  FI had my ring insured on his parents homeowners the day he picked it up from the jewelry store and I have since switched it over to my homeowners policy.

It is very important to determine what type of insurance you want.  You can get replacement insurance where the insurance company actually purchases you a replacement ring if something were to happen or you can get agreed value insurance where the insurance company would actually pay you the appraised value of your ring should something happen to it.  Because of the appraised value of my ring, I had to switch insurers since some companies will only allow you to add a piece of jewelery up to X value and my ring was appraised well above that value.

It is obviously more expensive to have agreed value insurance but that is what i ended up going with.  I know that there is a big difference in the appearance of diamonds, even a diamond with the same "stats" on paper.  So, I didn't want to leave it up to an insurance company to determine where a replacement diamond would come from.

FWIW, my new policy is with Chubb.

I have jeweler's mutual and was told by my jeweler to NOT use our homeowner's insurance because it doesn't cover as much as the jewelry insurance.
