The beautiful deodarant question

I am going to buy the Dove Skin Renew deodorant because I happen to be all kinds of Italian, which means dark hair spots even when I shave. I figure this will help hopefully and it won't look I have a 5'oclock shadow going on under my arms in pics.

The one question I can't figure out is what's a good clinical strength deodarant? I am definitely going to need something that will last most of the day, if not all. I can't be reapplying in between ceremony and reception. The other questions is, how do you use it. Apply the night before or morning of? What if you shower in the morning?

Who knew deodarant would be so hard lol!

Re: The beautiful deodarant question

  • i sweat like crazy... i started using certain dry a few weeks prior to my wedding date and no more sweat... just makes sure to use it at night (or just not after you shave- bc it will sting!) but i do not sweat anymore under my arms.  it can be kinda itchy but when i put my dove deodorant on after it dries the itch goes away... just a little sacrafice to not sweat on the big day :)
  • I actually just bought deodorant, and then was reading somewhere else where a bride was talking about making sure to have non-white deodorant if you are wearing a sleeveless dress so it doesn't get all over your husband's suit when the two of you are hugging and such.  I never thought about that aspect of it before, and I have a sleeveless dress.

Oh, and even if I shower the night before, I always apply deodorant in the AM.

  • I'm a big fan of the Secret Clinical Strength deodorant - I ran out and have been using crappier stuff, and I'm definitely switching back.  I like their light & fresh - I'm going to try the lavender one now since lavender is a scent we have going on throughout the wedding - sprinkled in candles, in the toss cones for the recessional, etc.

  • The Dove clinical works pretty well too, I will use that the night before.

  • I have used Men's Degree for YEARS and have been happy with the results.  However, it is white when you apply it on.  Oh well, it won't be fresh/white once it's been on for an hour or two.

  • Yeah, I sweat A LOT so I will probably to a quick reapply between the ceremony and reception, especially since the ceremony is outside.  Secret Invisible Solid works really well because it isn't white when it goes on.
  • I have had major deodorant issues for a long time now. I think I might be allergic to the aluminum/metals they use in the anti-perspirants, and believe me, I went through every brand and checked every main ingredient. First, the deodorants stopped working for me, then I broke out in a rash all along my armpits. So, I actually had to detox my skin (yep--no deodorant/anti-perspirant of any kind for a few weeks--this was all over a year ago now). I was wearing Secret when the rash started. I tried pretty much every brand and type that was available: Ban, Dove, Mitchum (worked for a while then stopped), Degree, Toms, Lady Speed Stick, the Clinical Strength stuff, and even that Crystal thing, which was literally a hard crystal you had to get wet and then apply.

But I FINALLY found one that worked: Arm and Hammer. It's aluminum free and paraben free, and it goes on clear. The only catch is that it's only a DEODORANT and NOT an anti-perspirant. So if you sweat, you will smell more like your deodorant's scent, but the water is not supressed. Good if you don't actually produce much water, not so good if you produce a lot of water. I've kind of had to make do, because nothing else works for me anymore.
