alternative bachelorette party ideas...

Have any of you been to a rad bachelorette partyin Portland recently? I am looking for sugesstions other than the obvious strip club sceen in PDX. Don't get me wrong, I like cocktails and the griity asthetic of Portland, but I am not EXCITED to spend my bachelorette night walking from club to club only to end up at voodoo dognuts? Can you relate? Do you have anything to share? Has anyone been to or done a DIY boudoir party?

You could have a pole dancing party at Summer's PDX Pole Divas studio. She's awesome. I know her through another forum. You can rent out the whole studio if you want or she can come to you. I believe she's up to two locations now. She also does aerial and other stuff.

Let me know if you go with that. I'd love to brag to her that I plugged her business, lol.
And if you should die before me, ask if you can take a friend. Pick a flower, close your eyes, and drift away- STP

    Strip clubs are soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo 1992.

What I believe is planned for my party is me and a few of my girlfriends are heading up to Portland.  In the morning/afternoon we'll be getting massages/facials at one of the student schools....which I'm completely drawing a blank on the name of.  They practice on you and you get a great discount!
My sister is paying for a couple of hotel rooms at the embassy suites downtown.  That way if/when we're ready to go bar-hopping, everything is right there.
Then, we're going to Darcelle's drag show!  I'm really excited because it sounds like it will be a ton of fun!  http://www.darcellexv.com/

A lot of people do Darcelles.  Harvey's Comedy Club or Comedy Sportz would be fun.  Glowing Greens (is that what it's called?  on 5th and Taylor) would be fun to do as a group, I think.

I've been wanting to hit Darcelle's forever! Maybe I can talk my gals into a Portland trip to do just that. Well and shop at Ikea of course!! LOL

My friends are joking about taking me to a strip club - but please - we live in Grants Pass. Male strip clubs are few and far between around here. And the ones that are .. I'm not sure I want to see Bubba swinging around a pole, strutting his stuff. Besides while I love my FI naked -- not really into having another man shove his junk in my face -bikini clad or not. Men in board shorts are a much better look ...

We haven't even talked about a bachelorette/bachelor party yet. Heck, we'll probably make it a co-ed bar hop (though we really don't drink) or go to this place and play mini golf, ride the go-carts and play in the arcade. Then again .. it's really not up to me! Smile

Snarky girl, it should be up to you!  My H is still really hurt by his best man over his.  H made it very clear that he did not want a strip club bach party, that he just wanted to go golfing and have some beers with his groomsmen.  His best man (who is his cousin and best friend) told him that if he didn't want to go to strip clubs, then he wasn't getting a bach party - and they didn't plan one.  When his best man got married 8 months later, H wasn't invited to the bach party because of the strip club part of it.  He's still pretty hurt that his guys (specifically the best man) didn't care enough about him to want to get together to celebrate if it didn't involve naked women.

And you description of Bubba on a pole reminded me of the "strip club" scene in the movie The Proposal.

That is so ridiculous Drama, I'm sorry your H had to deal with that.  I'm glad Fi's friends want to do something low-key.  I LOVED the strip club scene in the proposal because that's totally Oscar from The Office!  I kept imagining THAT character....I was cracking up.

we're doing the Portland Underground Tour and then a slumber party with girly movies, silly make overs, and home-made cocktails..

At least that's what I've been told.....

Wow these are great ideas! I think doing a pole dancing class and then having massages and facials at the student school would be fantastic. Even the mini-golf and underground tour would be great. SO much better than naked men and copious amounts of alcohol. ;)

My girls took me wine tasting in and near McMinnville.  We stopped at a couple of wineries on the way there (from Corvallis) and we went on an equestrian wine tour which was super fun - we rode horses to a few vineyards and got to walk through the rows of grapes.  We stayed the night in McMinnville and went to a great restaurant there.  We did go out to the bar after, but it would have been awesome even if we hadn't.  No strip clubs at all.  There were some penis straws provided by my friends, and I was strongly encouraged to wear a bright pink, 'bride-to-be' sash for most of the evening, but other than that it was pretty low key and tons of fun.

Mine is this weekend in Lincoln City with about 12 other girls.  We are wine tasting on the way down, hanging at the house Fri night, hot tubbing, etc.  Sat we will hit the outlet mall, get pedi's, walk the beach then at 3 is the shower.  Dinner at 6pm then back to the house for the bachelorette party (jello shots), then out to the casino/club.  Can't wait!
