Madison, WI in March- Venue Ideas

Hi all!  So I thought I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted in my head, right?  Wrong.. Things are changing and I'm a bit back to the drawing board with venues.  We are located in Madison but I'm not opposed to around 1hr drive for a venue.  We want something really romatic, a bit unique, and mostly casual.  We'd like to be able to do the ceremony and reception in the same place.  Keep in mind this will be March.. I'm just out of creative ideas for the area.  We'd like to keep the rental fee reasonable if we can.. We're up for restaurants, barns, but not so much hotel ballrooms (unless you know of something cool and unique?) Think twinkle lights, candles, wildflowers..Thoughts? Ideas?? Anything would be really appreciated! Thanks ladies!

Tyrol Basin is a beautiful spot and is very unique and romantic, but I would be concerned about the ice and snow on the country roads. it's about 20 minutes outside of Madison and is a beautiful ski area - rustic, yet charming

How many people are you inviting?

I've heard nice things about Porta Bella, but I don't think they do ceremonies.

I have several ideas... but I'm not sure that they would work in March since most of the do ceremonies outside.  Tyrol Basin (Mt. Horeb), White Rose Inn (WI Dells), Sweet Sophies, Olin Turvil Park Pavillion, Enchanted Barn, Quivey's Grove.

Thanks for the ideas ladies!! We have looked at Bellini's and it is still on the list.  Tyrol is a fun a idea but I think March is pretty cold to do it there.  I have tried to look into Sweet Sophie's but their website is really limited with pictures--does anyone have some?  I LOVE the Enchanted Barn but it is a 4 hour drive for me and that's a little out of range..  I wish though!

I don't know if I read the calendar wrong but does Quivey's Grove do weddings in March? It didn't come up on the calendar, only May-October I believe..

So you all have heard good things about Bellini??

    Thanks again!

We're using Badger Farms in Deerfield, right outside of Madison.  So far, they've been great to work with.  They are reasonable and they only do one wedding per weekend, so give you plenty of time to set-up etc.  You can do the ceremony either outside or in the barn (which is really pretty and has tone of twinkle lights already set-up).

    Good luck!

    cclemer,

Thanks! We've looked into Badger Farms and my sister and dad did a visit for me.  When is your wedding? PLEASE let me know how it goes and if you were happy with it!  I'd be much, much, more interested in this place if I could do things outside on the patio but it'll be March and let's be honest about March in WI...hahaha

    Thanks!

    Hi,

No problem!  Our wedding isn't actually until September 2012, so I won't know how it actually goes for a long time.  That totally makes sense about the patio.  I think the barn itsself is really nice too (we visited several similar places and it was much more "finished" than most), but the outdoor element is definitely nice too.  Another plus is that they have a ton of different decorations, candles, etc. that other couples have left and they let you use for free.

Let me know if you have any questions!
