Toilet Paper Wedding Dress Game Question!

I'm planning a bridal shower and want to play the toilet paper wedding dress game. I've read that the bride judges the dresses -- this must mean that she doesn't play the game? Has anyone played this at a shower -- who judged the dresses? Does the bride play? Does the shower planner judge? Please advise! Thank you. :)

Re: Toilet Paper Wedding Dress Game Question!

  • Anytime I have played the bride does not play and is the one to judge.

  • The bride doesn't play and she's the judge.
  • The one and only time I've played this game the bride was the judge and did not play.

  • Yeah, agreed with the others. Only time I've played the bride didn't and she was the judge
  • Can I suggest you DON'T play this game? It's very old and cheesy and most people don't like it. If you want shower games, maybe consider something more passive, so people don't HAVE to participate. I'm thinking like trivia games at the tables, and no one is forced to answer.
  • Yeah, the bride doesn't play, she judges the dress. You have a team of two, one is the "model" and the other is the "designer" and the designer makes a dress onto the model. The bride judges and chooses the best one.

I've seen this game played a bunch of times and everyone gets a kick out of it. The funniest one I saw was at a co-ed shower, and the GUYS had to be the models and designers! They actually got pretty creative.
  • I like shower games but I hate when the bride has to chose the winner.  When the girls hosting my shower were planning the shower I requested 'no games where I have to judge' and of course they did.  It was irritating.

To anwer your question:  no bride does not play.

My caution: don't use this game.

I've seen that too. It is a pretty predictable shower game. The guys actually went pretty wild with it, making it very interesting. There are a lot of outdated shower games, but people still do them because they're expected.<div>
</div><div>I'm not a huge fan of 'engaged couple' trivia either. Up until recently, every wedding I went to were for acquaintances or distant relatives. So, I didn't really know the couple well & was bored out of my mind while everyone else was shouting answers. Just a thought.</div>
  • Hehe...the one time I played this was as a bride myself, but we had a kind of unusual situation in that it was a shower for the three women in my department who were getting married that summer, so three teams dressed the brides in toilet paper dresses.  It was pretty awesome.  Just a fun pic from the occasion:

So yeah, didn't really answer the question, but it was a fun time for us...

  • The bridal showers I have been to where they play this the bride is just the judge. :)
  • i have played this game and i thought it was fun...and in a way it was a "passive" game because only  a few people participated and everywhere else watched and laughed of course!   if you think your group of family and friends will like it then go for it! and when i have seen the game its always the bride doesn't play but she is the judge.
