Hair & Makeup- Salon vs. At Home

Hi Ladies!
I'm a little behind in my hair & make-up booking! I'm looking to have both my hair & make-up done, and looking for hair only for my 3 bridesmaids, and maybe some curls for my flower girl :)
Where I am the only one getting my make-up done, do you think it's better to go to a salon? I got a few quotes for a few places that travel to me & only one for a bridal salon, and they were $85 for hair for my bridesmaids.
Does anyone know of an affordable bridal salon (that does a great job) in the north shore that would be less than $85 a girl. Also, would I be able to do my make-up there? Does any make-up places travel to you if it's just me?
Sorry, this is so long! Any thoughts or recommendations would be helpful :)

I recommend doing it at home.

It was much more relaxing and i was glad to be around all my BM's.

If they know its a bridal party, you aren't going to get much cheaper than that :(  So yah, have a friend who knows what they're doing or check out beauty school students, or just go the at home route.

I had my hair and makeup done at the hotel where I got married. It was so convenient to have everyone come to me instead of having to run around everywhere that day.

I got married on the Cape, so I can't speak to any Boston places or prices, but as a BM I have done both at the salon and at home, and at home was much more relaxing (as long as you have the space). For my wedding they came to us and it really was great.

I HIGHLY recommend Gina Joubert for your hair. She is absolutely amazing with updos. You can check out her website at ginajoubert.com. She has done all of my friends weddings, my two sisters, and is going to be doing mine next Sept. in NH. Hope this helps :)

I have been in a number of weddings and am planning mine for this summer.  I preferred getting my hair done in a salon, rather than at home or a hotel room.  It was more exciting and less crazy with people interrupting the hair and make-up artists.

That in mind, Dorothy at Intrigue Salon in Peabody is one of the best stylists on the Northshore.  She only charges about $65 per person, even for the bride!  You should give her a call and check her out (978-535-2060).  She can even make arrangements for a make-up artist to come to you.

    Good Luck :-)
